  1. Hi all, So I submitted a research paper to a workshop in which my POI was chair. Today, he let me know that they cannot accept because "it is not the kind of talk we are trying to foster." Of course, this is disappointing but I understand. My question is whether this is going to affect my PhD application? Did any one of you have a similar experience? Thanks.

  4. Just learned my POI might not be reviewing my application bcz she is on leave this semester. To what extent does this influence the adcom's decisions? Any ideas?

So I've applied to some political science programs in the US with a focus on conflict studies/political violence etc. However, I am not sure if my profile is good enough for admission particularly because of my GRE score. I am not really hopeful but wanted to see other people's perspective as well. Here is my profile: MA in peace studies(Brandeis) 3.75 GPA MA in political science(turkish university) Valedictorian BA in International Relations (Turkish university) 3.42 Did internships in top institutions in Turkey and the US such as Koc University, Middle East Institute. Published one peer-reviewed article and two book reviews, contributed to major newspapers in Turkey and Europe Proficient in LaTeX, SPSS, ArcGIS, German and Arabic. Did field research in Cairo for three months. Recipient of important scholarships such as Fulbright GRE Verbal:154 Quant: 156 Analytical:4.0 Here are the schools that I've applied: 1.Duke 2.Northwestern 3. Colorado Boulder 4. Florida State 5. GMU 6. Penn State 7. Uni of Toronto (Canadian school, any perspective on this school is welcome) Any insight is welcome. Thanks
