    FASFA in the UK?

Don't forget to make sure your school is eligible to receive US aid, too.
  2. Submitted. Super nervous about it all, but what's done is done.
  3. Finished both documents after multiple drafts!
  4. This is the information I've found: "Candidates for the partnership awards or those undertaking projects at fee-waiver institutions will pay no tuition fees and will be given a stipend from the Fulbright Commission for international travel and living costs. Stipends will be £12,000 for locations outside of Greater London, or £13,500 within London." From what I can deduce, that means a portion of the stipend must be dedicated to travel arrangements. Same as this, from the 2013-14 handbook: Fulbright Grants generally provide round-trip transportation, language or orientation courses (when appropriate), a book allowance, maintenance for the academic year based on living costs in the host country, a nominal research allowance, (when appropriate), and health and accident coverage. For some countries, full or partial tuition is also offered.
  5. You can get a federal direct loan for up to $20,500 (unsubsidized) I believe. After that there are Direct PLUS loans if you have good credit to help with the remaining COA (cost of attendance): However you have to see if your school is eligible for American financial aid...and I don't see Singapore on the list... You may have to speak directly to a larger bank for assistance.
  6. That age thing is messy Crystal Dee. I am very sorry to hear that.
  7. Happy for everyone that's been selected. This is going to be an amazing journey for you! To alternates and those not selected...2014-2015 is now open!
  8. Best wishes Crystal Dee I've been lurking for awhile but you've been a constant, uplifting presence here. I really wish things turn in your favor. Stay positive!
  9. I know this is somewhat off-topic...but I got accepted to the University of Glasgow today! That means I can stop dreaming and actually be eligible to apply for the 2014-2015 Fulbright award there. PISSING MYSELF WITH HAPPINESS.
  10. I know it wasn't directed at me, but the words about LDR's have really comforted me. My partner is in Glasgow and I'm in NE Ohio, so things have been a little off since I returned last month from a visit, and I won't be there again until fall of 2014 for school, if I do indeed get admitted. The change in how we communicate at first was difficult, but seeing that it's normal has made me feel better. Hoping for good news for everyone still waiting!
  11. Wonderful, wonderful news! Very happy things turned around for you! In other news...I submitted my uni app to Glasgow today (for 2014-2015). I am well nervous about getting the results. But good luck to everyone still waiting!
  12. Wow! I am super late, hahahahaha. Is it bad that I am applying at large? I did graduate in May 2011, but my school does not have their own in-house application process. I guess regardless, I am going to this uni whether I have to take out loans or not.
  13. Hello! I am from the Akron-Canton area!
  14. Good luck to everyone that has been successful and fingers crossed for everyone still waiting. I am excited reading about the process because I'd like to do research/postgraduate MSc in Scotland next year, and understand the UK is majorly competitive. Have the 2013-2014 decisions been made yet?
  15. This may be the wrong place - but does anyone know much about the Fulbright US Student award/grant to the University of Glasgow?
