  1. Thanks so much for the words of encouragement! It really does help to hear... I am crushed but I think it is because it is my first rejection like you said. I am very grateful though because I did win a provincial award so I am not left with nothing at all... And from what I hear, I can reapply to SSHRC next year and if I win CGS at that point it is better than winning from the beginning. That said, I do not have high hopes for future applications... but I guess you never know!! Again thanks for the kind words
  2. Sure... I didn't get the letter yet so don't know how I ranked at SSHRC but heres some other info: Applied in second year of Masters for first year of PhD.. -Held MA SSHRC award -1 Peer reviewed publication (3rd out of 5 authors) -2 Conference presentations (1 paper, 1 poster) -3.8 GPA Undergrad -3.95 GPA MA -Worked on many drafts of my proposal and my supervisor referred to it as "impeccable" -2 letters of reference (1 from my supervisor who is the director of my program, 1 from an employer where I was research coordinator and had a poster with this prof) I really do not know what they base their decisions on quite honestly... but there you go! Good luck to the rest in waiting!
  3. Thanks, but it sounds like there is still hope for you, having not gotten a response at all... fingers crossed for you!
  4. Email from grad dept.. I was "unsuccessful" and that is all I know... awesome..
  5. Congrats!!!! Such exciting news!! I haven't received my mail yet... tends to come in late afternoon so crossing my fingers (despite others in Montreal not getting it..)
  6. I have been wondering the same thing. I received FQRSC and have yet to hear about SSHRC (I know I was forwarded from the university though). From what I hear (word of mouth with other grad students), you can reapply to SSHRC next year. In fact, this is considered a good idea because then you can be covered potentially for four years instead of 3 and you have a chance to have CGS for 3 years, in addition to your first year of FQRSC (total value of $ 125,000). If you win the 4 year doctoral SSHRC off the bat, I don't know if you can reapply and if you cannot the total value would be $ 80,000.
  7. I called McGill and they say they haven't heard either. I don't buy it considering many other universities have been informed... but I guess they too prefer to keep a lid on the results
  8. When I went to general login, I saw only "in progress" and did not see anything r.e. Michael Smith supplement... but when I went to SSHRC Doctoral sign in and clicked "create new form", the Michael Smith Supplement grant shows up... It says its a supplement to CGS... I never checked this before though so don't know if it was always there or changed today.....
  9. I am also waiting on SSHRC... What do we do if SSHRC doesn't come out before 10 days is up? Once you accept FQRSC, are you locked in to that even if you are offered a SSHRC?????
  10. Thanks! And sure I will post my rankings Comite : 08A Concours : B2 Groupe : 1 Bourse de : Doctorat Dossier universitaire (6 pts) 5.117 Aptitude et experience en recherche (6 pts) 5.16 Qualite et interet scientifique du projet de recherche (8 pts) 6.467 Total (20pts)16.74 ranked 7 out of 26 that applied in my category... (not sure how many they gave out in total though)
  11. I am hoping to get SSHRC as well.. it would be a bonus... but if not I am happy with FQRSC Just feel relieved... your odds are really great so things look good for you as well!
  12. Also I received an award with a score of 16.74, was ranked 7 out of 26 in my category... so I think it really depends on the applications in your respective category.. again wishing you the best of luck! I think you will get it!
  13. wrenochka, you have a really great chance! I know someone who was in your position (can't remember if she was first or second on waiting list actually), and she got a score of 16.8, which is slightly lower than yours!! She heard in around July that she got the award! Good luck to you!!
  14. Congrats caffeinated!!! I just got my results and was offered an award as well!!!!! So relieved!!
  15. Does anyone have any idea when SSHRC is releasing the results? I heard it was May 1st for PhD last year.... I am so anxious already and just want an answer
  16. Was wondering if anyone has heard anything yet from FQRSC (particularly I am curious about the PhD awards)... Also does anyone know what day of the week they were released last year? I am getting so anxious that I am having funding nightmares already!!! Just want to know the answer already!!
