So, I am currently waitlisted at CEU for their PhD program...the issue is that the deadline for those currently with offers to decide is after the April 15 deadline for the programs I am accepted to in the US. This is a better position to be in than I was last year (just waitlists, no acceptances), but I am really interested in CEU (if I were accepted, I would attend).
With that said, if you (or know anyone) who received an offer from CEU and aren't planning on attending, please notify the department so I could potentially get an offer before I have to decide at my other programs.

So, I heard that Western Michigan currently has all of their funded offers out, but they are potentially looking to make a couple unfunded ones as well. When I got my MA at WMU there were a few unfunded grad students in my class, but by our second year they had all moved into funded spots...I'm not saying that that'll happen this time, but it definitely could. But, even if it didn't the cost of living in Kalamazoo is quite low and they're doing some cool philosophy. Just thought I'd pass the word on in case any of you were still looking for a school...I definitely enjoyed my time there.

Very nice. I'm currently on the waitlist there. If the other schools you're waiting to hear from don't work out, do you think you'll accept? I'm leaning towards SUNY Binghamton since they focus on what I do, but I'm still undecided (and still have to hear back from Central European University)...plus I'm tired of tons of snow and cold, so a milder climate would be nice.

Interesting...yeah, I guess that one must have been something special. I mean, it's possible that they've already sent them all out, but I don't think it would have been this quiet.

Can anyone claim that U Conn acceptance from a few weeks ago? There is only one and I'm still waiting to hear from them, not sure what to think..
Haven't heard form them, either, nor have any of my friends, so I'd say that that post was a mistake.

Yeah, I saw where Ian had posted that...that'll definitely change many people's decisions, I bet...and will probably also mean UWM will be dropping in the next rankings (for whatever that's actually worth).

I also received a wait-list to UWM (adding mine to the results page in a sec). This is the first good news I've heard (a ton of rejections), so here's to hoping a lot of those who received acceptances get into even better places.

I thought I should jump on and introduce myself since I'll be frequenting the site so much until I hear from all of the programs I applied to. So far I've heard from WUSTL (first one to post the rejection). 1 down, 20 to go

Anyway, my name's Dusty, and I'm currently at Western Michigan University finishing up my M.A.

I applied to both, though I accidentally sent my stupid GRE scores to Northeastern IL instead, so I didn't get any funding from NIU. I also got accepted to a couple other top schools (ASU, SFSU), but WMU offered me the best deal. After the research I've done on the programs I think either one will help you. NIU seems like they might have a slightly higher placement rate, but WMU hasn't posted their numbers for the past couple of years (but all their previous years were good).
Overall, I'd say that it comes down to which you would like more. Outside of class they both have horrible winters (I figure by Feb I will be cursing myself for not picking Arizona) and are not that far from each other. Both Schools have relatively small faculties as well. Look at what the faculty members specialize and are interested in, the class offerings, and perhaps send some emails out to current grad students at both departments, asking them what they think of their experience.
Either way, I don't think you can go wrong.

Me too...I think it'd be amazing to study at CEU...but I fear nothing's going to happen in the next couple days. Let's hope at least one of us gets it =)
