  1. The comments about my proposed research itself were mostly positive, with comments stating how it had the potential to drive future policy decisions. Reviewers also pointed out my success in similar research projects prior to this one. The biggest thing I need to do is simply my explanations a bit more, so a wider variety of people can understand. My immediate thought after reading through my comments, "Am I being punked right now?" I was not. I'm too blown away right now to be angry.
  2. Rejection - Low Priority. For the lamest reasons possible that i have ever seen. And I've written A LOT of proposals. Good luck to everyone that is left!!!!
  3. That's it? 1 postdoc, 1 grad, and 1 whatever? Should there be more awards than that, or is that a typical number for this program? doesn't seem right... I guess maybe they are waiting on funding to come through.
  4. Did that prof say anything about the decisions? or is it just the announcement we are all waiting on and that is all done with?
  5. Must be. I can't imagine anyother reseason. What I don't see a reason for is keeping us in the dark about what is going on. These proposals are a lot of work to put together, I think we deserve a little bit more than this.
  6. What the hell happened that this is taking so long? Do they mean they are not officially announcing the winners until October? I don't understand. I wish there was a bit more transparency in this whole process
  7. That is possible I guess. What area did you all apply too? Mine was "Renewable energy, natural resources, and the environment"
  8. I've lost all hope. I feel pretty strongly that all the awards have been awarded and we are just waiting for them to finalize everything before they tell us we lost. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not sure what else to think at this point.
  9. Oh. I see. Hopefully it is this week. Last time for post doc, it was a Weds.
  10. Why today specifically? Other than you are tired of waiting, LOL
  11. Yeah on the first page. Fishtox got a postdoc award.
  12. Dangit! Well, at least that means they haven't announced them and we haven't been rejected yet....
  13. I imagine that if they have taken this long to announce anything (assuming that is the case) then I feel they would have to allow people to postpone if they must. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
  14. To be probably too honest, I check this thread multiple times a day, lol. So don't worry, as soon as I hear something you people will know!
  15. Yeah I haven't heard anything either. That sounds like a good question for your Grad Secratary. I'm pretty sure you can't do that here at Pitt. Maybe you can defer it until spring if you are awarded one? Does anyone know for sure that they haven't announced the Graduate Fellowships yet? Maybe they did and we didn't get one, LOL.
  16. Ticks_and_stuff, are you waiting to hear about a post doc award or grad?
  17. Congratulations! Hopefully the rest of us hear something soon.
  18. Nothing here either. I really hope they make announcements this week.
  19. I think I might still be able to back out of TAing. It's probably a question I should raise, LOL.
  20. Samsies. I really hope this doesn't get delayed. I had to deal with that for the EPA STAR 2013. 17 months from the day of submission until they told us they would go ahead with the awards. It was ZERO fun.
  21. UPDATE: I asked a couple days ago about award announcements. I was told "tentatively, later July."
  22. Definitely mention it! It's good to be clear where you stand so they can best help you, just don't make it sound like a threat I guess when you say it. Just simply state that unless you can find some additional funding soon, you may have to consider waiting to start until next year. Sorry I can't be more help! Best of Luck!!
  23. If I am right to assume that this is a professional/non-thesis master's program, there tends to be less assistance for programs like these. In our program these students are self funded and are not offered teaching assistantships. If you have an advisor/mentor that you will be working with, talk to them. Otherwise, we have a graduate secretary in our department who we can also take these kinds of issues to. I would recommend to contact that person or some other person that manages the grad program and ask them for information on potential funding sources. You can also complete your fafsa and apply for government loans if all else fails. You don't need to wait a year to do that, unless you want to apply for government assistant grants. In which case your fafsa should be in by Feb 1st I believe.
