  1. I will be starting a phd program at Tulane in about a month. I have a question about housing for those familiar with the area. How much of benifit would living right next to campus be? I've found a pretty sweet place, with a roommate, that is one street over from campus. However, for the price, I could afford a nicer place if I moved a few miles away from campus.
  2. What title do you give when people ask what you do? Just curious
  3. So the semester is over and while it was my worst semester, I did not do as poorly as I had expected. I busted my ass and pulled out an A in cal based physics 2 and two C's in my geosciences class. I am also doing field work this summer for 6 credit hours and will most likely end up with a B.
  4. Anyone else have any expierence with this ?
  5. There were no specified GPA requirements included in my offer, only that I must submit my final transcript before I can register for classes.
  6. I've also already secured 4 years of funding .
  7. I could go into the reasons but the fact of the matter is I will most likely end up with 1 b and 2 c's this te. How bad is this?
  8. Awesome! I'm headed there next year to start a phd program in geology.
  9. I'll be attending Tulane in the fall for grad school. Any advice on finding housing? Would like to keep it at @$800/mo
  10. I have been accepted to a Phd program at a top 50 university for geology. I could not be more excited. However, I have completly run out of money and have had to take on two jobs. I am taking three very difficult classes ( cal based physics 2, and two other science courses) this semester while working about 40 hours a week. Needless to say, I am not doing well in my classes. There is a small chance that I could end up with all C's. As it stands my GPA is 3.73. I'm freaking out that the school might recend their offer. They did not say anything about having to keep my GPA at a certain leval. Anyone heard of this hapening? Ugh!
  11. I was torn between two sub disciplines and went with my gut. The more I have been looking into the school/program , the more I am starting to feel like I would rather go a different route as far as my research goes within the same department.
  12. I reported my GPA as 3.64 when it's a thallus 3.63. Should I email to have it changed or just let it ride? Thanks.
  13. if you are willing to read my sop rough draft will you please pm me? thanks!
  14. Im thinking of adding a few stretch schools , but Im still not sure were I rank in terms of getting into a good program. If you wouldn't mind doing this let me know here and I will pm you. Thanks. I'm applying to grad school for geology.
  15. Damn, that sucks. My scores are: 159 Verbal 152 Quant 4.5 Verbal I would really like to bring my quant score up. I'm not applying to any top schools but its still lower than I would like.
  16. No, I didn't see any of the scores for the top schools. Here are the stats for LSU http://www1.vetmed.lsu.edu/Admissions/DVM%20Admissions/Previous%20Class%20Statistics/item28209.html
  17. I've always heard that vet school was really competitive. Looking around, most of the posted averages are <12000 (old scale) Isn't that kind of low?
  18. How much did you study, how long did you wait and how much did you improve? I took the test without studying, did OK and am trying to decide if I should retake it. I would have two weeks to study( no classes or works irony this time). My verbal and writing scores are just over 80th percentile but my quant is just over 50th. I'm applying to geology gradschools (non quant intensive programs)
  19. Well, I'd hate to throw away a good opportunity over an unfair question. Any other stratagies? Like say this schooll was ranked 50th in the country. Maybe put a similar school, that's ranked close to 25 as number one, put this school as number two and a similar school ranked around 50 as my number three.
