  1. The department doesn't usually offer terminal MA, but since I'm a Fulbrighter my grant is specifically for masters, but I'll try to continue afterwards. However, they will launch an official MA program in cultural anthro perhaps in 2017-18.
  2. Thanks for the answer, I thought so too, and maybe you can support your research by an outsider for authentication.
  3. Thanks Bioarch, Reno seems charming but I'm going to decline. I was wondering if your POI research themes are similar to yours but differ in the geographic focus, does it matter or the thematic match is what's important especially for a PhD?
  4. Congrats Almaqah (the Arabian goddess?), who's your POI if you can share?
  5. Hi 2016 hopefuls! I've applied to 4 MA programs in cultural anthropology and received the decisions: 1. Cornell: accepted (exceptional admission, as the MA program is not officially launched until next year) 2. Indiana Bloomington: rejected (they accepted less than 10) 3. Rutgers NB: accepted (had an interview with my potential advisor) 4. Nevada Reno: accepted (unanimously). Now waiting for Fulbright grant decision in May on which school to fund. Best of luck to you all.

  7. Hi guys, I'm looking for terminal MA programs only due to my grant conditions, in sociocultural or linguistic tracks. I made a list of potential schools, see the list below, emailed means I'm not sure if they offer a terminal MA, and yes means they offer a terminal MA. I'm a Fulbright nominee from the UAE, graduated last June, my CGPA is 3.94, did my internship with the UN WFP, worked for 2 years in tourism, been active on and off campus, international activities, taking the GRE in October 4th. Let me know what do you think of my list and if you suggest other schools and why. Good luck everybody.

  9. Thanks for the replys guys. I've tried to contact them and I've emailed Norvin Richard, but without an answer for a month!
  10. Hello Linguists! Who can provide a feedback on this program? What are their admission requirements for international students, and do they cover only America's languages or also the Middle East/West Asia? http://web.mit.edu/linguistics/mitili/
  11. I'm looking for masters programs with emphasis on linguistic anthropology in the US, any suggestions?

  13. Hi All, I need your help to answer some of the questions I have. I am looking for a masters program in linguistic anthropology with a focus on documentive/descriptive linguistics, identity and preferably with a faculty interested in Iranian languages/Persian Gulf, in the United States. I come from international studies/international affairs background, would that be a hindrance in my application (GPA 3.93, excellent CV, recommendations, 5 languages)? Kind regards, Baloch
  14. Dear all, I kept wondering and looking around for graduate programs in Comp. Lit. with a focus on these themes and fields of study, but without much of success. Here is a mini bio: From the UAE - Double majoring in International Studies and English teaching (My uni doesn't offer any degrees in lit. or related fields! these are the closest things I could study unfortunately, but the pro is that it's fully accredited in the U.S.) - Top student with GPA 3.90+ and achieved with record of publications, in Arabic though. Languages: Classical Arabic and dialects - English - Persian - Urdu - Balochi - some Kurdish and French. Here is my interest: I want to study the development of minorities literature in the Middle East and South Asia (Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan),and to compare between Kurdish and Balochi (Iranian languages) emerging literatures from orality to written, their literary history, the construction of the national-ethnic identity through their literature, and the influence of other regional dominant literature (Urdu and Persian) on both of the literatures. I'm looking for the internationally top 30 Comp. Lit. programs (or any other that would enable me to study the above) in the USA and UK only (ambitious here), please any suggestions, advices, and ideas where I can pursue my interests with my qualifications? Thank you truly in advance ..
