I am actually thinking of starting afresh. Not like I wanna transfer. I will have finished one semester by the time I will be sending my application. So, I wanna apply to a PhD program. Not like transfer from a Masters to a PhD program.

I am currently in a Masters program in the USA. I am looking at applying to another school for a PhD program starting in the Fall of 2015. I am just a little bit concern that my Advisor may not wanna release me, as in recommending me for a PhD in another School. What do you Think?

I will be coming to Atlanta this fall for a Master's Program in Chemistry...

Got a reject email from RPI. They told me to apply only to get me kicked out.

Thanks man! I called them after seeing that some offers have been extended already. Then the woman told me that my application was rejected and that official mail to come soon with the reason. Fingers crossed. Waiting to hear back from the remaining six Schools.

Told I was rejected at UNC Chapel Hill. But official email yet to come, reasons yet to be known.

That is quite helpful. I spoke with the Graduate recruitment secretary last Friday and he told me they are just concluding the review process for the domestic applicant and they will start reviewing international applicants by Monday. Guess I should hear back say Friday this week. By the way, what division are you doing? I am doing Organic. If you don't mind however, I will plead with you to make your decision as to accepting or denying the offer early enought in order to give a cuance to your brother from another mother who is just looking for one admit. It sounds funny right? Please don't laugh, I am serious. Thanks brother!

By Kansas, did you mean to say University of Kansas or Kansas state University?? I applied to the University of Kansas. And I have not heard back from them. Please be kind to share your stats here if it is University of Kansas. Also, are u an American applicant? Thanks for prompt response.

Hi ClickClick, Could you please help me find out how many new PhD students FSU Chemistry department typically admit into their program? Or better still how many offers do they typically send out for each Fall term? I only know about the number of applicants they are currently reviewing (140 applicants according to the Graduate Students Coordinator). I also gathered that Dr Tyler McQuade is back from Germany. How true is this info? Kindly reply soon. Many thanks! We shall all achieve our dreams.

I applied to three of your Schools, Duke, Rochester and UNC chapel hill. Have you by any means heard anything from any of these three Schools? Do you know if anybody has gotten into any of them? Thanks for replying! We shall all fulfil our dreams!!

While Mr Quantum has made a fantastic suggestion, I will not hesitate to point out the fact that "Buylotusonitunes" needs more than a job at this time. From the account he gave of himself, It is reasonable to conclude that he is lonely and somewhat depressed. Here is my 5 cent - On top of the above suggested way out, try and socialise even if it may not go well with you initially, soon, you will get use to it and find it interesting. Call family and friends and request that they call you periodically. Let love ones know that you need them at this crucial point in your life and most importantly, encourage yourself everyday. I will personally not advice you to drop out. I hope to meet you someday when I come to the US. I know you can! Please don't drop out!!
