So is a HM worth putting down on your CV/Resume and the such? Not quite the prize but hopefully not entirely meaningless either.

VG/E, E/E, VG/VG: HM. Standards seem sorta rough. The last reviewer seemed a lot less impressed with my research proposal. I'm confused as to why the person didn't score me below VG given the comments. The first person seemed to like me a lot though, outright writing 'both worthy of and in need of the support of a GRF'. I would probably be feeling less salty if it weren't for that person actually, haha. Gives me some belief that I was close. Congratulations to everyone =)

I wonder why they do this. It's a one day difference so I doubt much heavier consideration was given. Seems like it would be easier for all parties if these rejections came out at the same time. -

Haven't heard back from my end either and I didn't get an interview. Seems unlikely in any case but this leaves some hope maybe? -

A graduate student there tells me that Michigan does but only in very rare circumstances. She says that just 2 people of her current cohort were accepted straight to PhD. I applied to the Masters since I thought they didn't accept straight to PhD altogether. Interestingly though, on the followup email I received this morning from a faculty member, I was greeted with a congratulations for getting accepted to their PhD program with funding. Might just a be a typo. -

Alright I just received a phone call from another Michigan biostat faculty member and they just finished deciding on who gets funded today. Very lucky to be guaranteed funding! I think everyone should be hearing from them soon. -

I was sent an email from the faculty member, asking me to arrange a time that weekend to have a phone talk with him. It was like an informative greeting but the funding situation was brought up a couple times. I was asked if I had any prior research experience with statistics (I didn't) and after my answer he said that in that case, if I were to be awarded funding it would probably be as a GSI rather than a GSRA. Also in case you were wondering if the visit day includes travel reimbursements, it is if they award you funding. All we can really do is wait I guess. -

Would you call the phone conversation an interview? I was scheduled a call with a professor at Michigan Biostat last weekend and he said that funding is going to be decided within the next couple of weeks. Also, the amount of people that get funding seemed to be really vague. In his words "5, 10, 20" students get funded and there around 60 MS students apparently. I wouldn't worry if you haven't heard any funding decisions from Michigan yet. -

In case anyone is interested, I emailed the Graduate Coordinator for UW Madison and she said that all available funded offers for the Stat PhD have been given out already. Of course, some may become available depending on the response rate but it seems like a remote possibility for those still waiting to hear from them. Also, congrats to MLHopeful on the stellar results! -

And there's a bunch of Columbia Statistics PhD acceptances out today. The dream is over for me I guess. -
I also can't figure out how to view the decision on my application. I'm checking the applyyourself GSAS application and can't find anything resembling a "View Decision."

Berkeley's email on the GSI/GSR positions: "Such positions provide a monthly salary (approximately $1,600 pre-tax) and carry with them at least partial registration fee remission." Seems pretty rough to live by from what I've seen in regards to apartment prices alone so far. -

Somewhat similar situation for Berkeley Biostats it seems. The stipend seems to be around 1.6k a month and I hear the area is pretty expensive. Anyone know how reasonable living off that would be? -

Duke did the same earlier this year. I assume that if you haven't heard from them yet, you're in pretty good standing.
