Cambienta got a reaction from pbnwhey in Los Angeles, CA
I lived up in Sherman Oaks for 6 months before deciding to move to West LA. The 405 in the morning is a killer (so are Sepulveda and Beverly Glen, the only other real routes through the mountains); my ten-mile commute easily got up to taking an hour and a half-- and taking the bus was even worse, time wise.
If you definitely know you'll never need to commute down in the morning, regularly, then I'd say it's doable--any time that's not rush hour, the drive/bus ride is easy and fast.

Cambienta reacted to eragon in Personal History/Diversity Statement -- Question of Appropriateness
Personal/Diversity statement as I understand can be used to explain to admission committee how you can contribute to your university through your skills and it can also be used to explain the adversities you faced in your life and how you overcame it. I think its perfectly fine to talk about it.

I think you're okay. By the end of the essay they would have already formed an impression of you and your work. If I were the reader, I would just do a double take on move on with the application without thinking any less of you.

If you were still able to submit it via the online form, you're probably okay. Don't stress.

Cambienta reacted to TakeruK in Transcript Advice (Sent Unnecessary Transcript?)
I would not worry about it--if they really do not want people to send in community college transcripts, then they would not consider them very much if they are sent in.
Also, I don't think it's strange that they do not want to see community college transcripts even if they make up half of a student's undergraduate education. Most grad schools care much more about the last 2 years than the first 2 years.
