  1. I had one month to accept my offer from NYU. and ... two weeks to accept it for CCNY. Now that's short.
  2. 1) Computer science researcher and professor. 2) Software engineer or algorithm analyst at Google. 3) Seismic geologist. 4) Slacker who doesn't have to worry about money, perhaps by winning the lottery first. Most interested in 4, then 1 and 2, then 3.
  3. 220 for applications to two schools 185 for GRE 25 for GRE prep material 23 for transcripts About 453 total.
  4. If by "no background in computers" you meant that you haven't taken any courses in CS, but you do know how to program, I think you should definitely apply. CS programs generally have some technical requirements like knowing some programming and some basic concepts in CS. You should definitely take the GRE and get good scores on it. It can balance out your undergrad GPA a bit. Assuming you don't know how to program and know close to nothing about computers, I think you should definitely do option 1 and 2. For choice 3, if you're doing a master's in ME just to get into a CS program, I don't think it's worth it. It's not only time consuming, but you'll probably need to dish out a lot of dough. Choice 2 is better.
  5. I think the difficulty is about the same. If you did well on the SAT and you kept those test taking skills, you will do well on the GRE as well.
  6. Starbuck got it all nailed! Post your edited SoP, mhd.saboori.
  7. Hi, I don't know much about SoPs for MAs, but I'll tell you what I think. 1) At the least, see if you can say something specific you want out of the MA program. Maybe something like "I want to deepen my knowledge in ... " 2) You should definitely discuss your area of interest. 3) Sure, if their work interests you. Not sure if you should contact them.
  8. I think this is a great SoP. From your SoP, it seems that you are prepared for a MS in CS. I would add something about the school you are applying to and how your interests fit with that.
  9. Your GRE scores are problematic, as others have pointed out. For verbal, try to memorize as many "GRE Words" as you can. Practice reading through short passages and then writing a quick summary for them. Check how accurate they are afterwards and see how you can improve from there. For math, I think ETS's "Math Review" that they have on their site is a really good resource. Try to read through the concepts and see how you can apply them in questions.
  10. Hi, I'm not sure about nutrition. For CS, I had a month to reply. I would assume it's the same for others. Good luck to you!
  11. According to Princeton's graduate admissions data, their 2013-2014 applicants had the following average scores: Engineering Admits: 162/162 Enrollees: 160/160 Natural Sciences Admits: 161/161 Enrollees: 158/158 http://www.princeton.edu/pub/profile/admission/graduate/ I'm not sure under which category Princeton classifies CS. I wouldn't be too worry about your scores.
  12. Rutgers New Brunswick is well regarded in CS.
  13. Not sure if the CS applicant pool is large. Anyways, good luck to you ptsm.
