  1. I also live in Lakeview in an apartment at Ashland and Diversey. It's a two bedroom for $1250/month with all the utilities included and laundry. I think it's the perfect area, although being off the blue line would be better for getting into downtown. They have planned to build an express bus down the center of Ashland from Irving Park to the southside, so that should help with commuting to UIC come next summer or so. Logan Square has zero grocery stores and I find that annoying. I have mixed feelings about Pilsen being safe (sorry Pilsen-lovers!). A friend of mine does have a one-bedroom in Wicker Park/Bucktown for $900/mo so you just need to hunt a bit. Feel free to PM me if you want more advice! Or if you are in need of furniture. Moving across the country in August!
  2. I lived there during my masters. It was a cool experience but had drawbacks too (you make great friends and they leave. Every semester.) Game days are great and they always have events and people genuinely want to get to know each other. The cost is actually reasonable for the area. I lived in 408 and N30. I want to say. The higher the better if you're wanting the best view.
  3. FINALLY GOT IN TO TOP CHOICE! Oh man, gradcafe-ers, this has been a rough season. Thanks for all the jokes, advice, and support! Hoping everyone else gets to have this exceedingly happy, floaty feeling too!

  4. See! Interviews never feel like they went right, even when they did. I was waitlisted... sigh.
  5. Did you hear from GWU today?
  6. What program at Hopkins did you apply for? I still haven't heard anything post-interview (over a month ago now) nor has my application status changed.
  7. *Hugs* and you never know! I'm waiting on a bunch of assumed rejections but I always keep hope. I have a very good friend who actually got rejected from her #1 choice last year and then got an acceptance with full funding and a stipend from the same school a month later! She was next on the waitlist and someone dropped out. Crazy but true!
  8. It was for the DrPH. It's my understanding they have combined all of those tracks into one interdisciplinary program.
  9. I had an interview with BU in Jan. and GWU (but for a different track) a couple weeks ago. Hopefully that's helpful info and hopefully this wait is over soon! Was accepted to Tulane's environmental health PhD program but haven't seen much talk about that on the message boards. Anyone else accepted? Have feelings about the program or opportunities in New Orleans? Didn't have an interview so it's really hard to gauge fit.
  10. Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. They interviewed on the same dates but I don't think it has any bearing on our acceptance/rejections. Completely different department and staff. Just a canary in the never-ending anticipation coal mine.
  11. Anyone applying to a PhD in environmental health hear from Hopkins? I saw a BMB acceptance on Feb. 25th but that's the only mention from our little interview cohort I've come across. It's getting kind of late, so I'm predicting rejection but the radio silence is killer.
  12. Did not see moose.

PhDerp, that is probably the funniest thing I have ever read. Perfectly put and I feel obliged to recycle, even though no one else (except those in the throws of application despair/reading any and all forums to keep busy while waiting it out) will get it. Kept me LOL-ing for days too!

  13. I have a section on mine called "skills," which has become a catch-all for things that don't fit elsewhere or if I want to really emphasize something. Maybe you can put what you've learned from these courses/projects under a heading like that? I wouldn't put courses down if you're using this for grad school, since schools will have access to that info from your transcripts. Others may have different advice! Does your school have a career or writing center? They can usually help.
