  1. anyone knowledgeable about if this is popular in the UK, though?
  2. hey all! quick question regarding UK MA programs: i understand that in the US, one can show schools (particularly desired ones) offers that they've received from other schools in the hopes of obtaining more funding or some other benefit...does anyone know if this process is normal/acceptable in the UK as well? thanks, sarah
  3. Hi there! I'm hoping to study an MA in philosophy (so, postgraduate taught course) in England, most likely at either Warwick or Kingston, and was wondering about scholarships besides the usual international office scholarships or the Fulbright and Marshall scholarships that could help me out as a US citizen or otherwise. Anything, from grants to fellowships to nominations to charities to plain old scholarships--any suggestions, tips, and personal experiences would be helpful! Thanks -Sarah
  4. so much ressentiment on this thread! why can't we just treat all trolls or half-trolls like we treat dfindley???

it's about time we got gifs up in hurrrrrr!!
  6. i also forgot who mentioned this, but findley's book IS on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Metaphysics-Being-Nothingness-William-Findley/dp/1490386718/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1387419688&sr=1-5&keywords=david+findley how does this correspond with everyone's troll theory?
  7. dfindley--i'm still curious to know a little more about how you became interested in philosophy, what drives you now, and how you seem to have such broad yet oddly specific knowledge...even tho you're trolling hardcore, i imagine it's taken you some work to learn about how to be the best philosophy troll ever. and i'm curious about your feelings for nietzsche and even deleuze--you've berated them both (usually nietzsche more), but there also seems to be some recognition of accomplishment at other points.
  8. i find myself oddly repulsed and attracted to dfindley's posts. part-troll, part-student of philosophy, all maniacal mystery. i raise my glass to you, dfindley, for making me laugh -sarah
  9. also, don't forget the other chicago school in the area: loyola! they have hanne jacobs, hugh miller, and adriaan peperzaak.
  10. having gone to the University of Miami (and yes, I made sure it was Ohio's!)'s web site, i was disappointed to see not too much info, and the info that was available was pretty lackluster. for those two alumni, could more be said about the courses and set-up for the MA particular to the university?
  11. any recommendations for canadian universities that specialize in or treat 20th century continental philosophy? particularly post-structuralism?
  12. hey, it seems that their financial aid for international students is pretty paltry--3,500 pounds for a full-time, 1 year MA student. most of the funding seems to go to EU/UK students...
  13. It's supposed to be excellent, but expensive for overseas students. They've got 3 different masters programs: one about aesthetics, one about critical theory, and the other on the development of critical philosophy since Kant.
