  1. Oh wow that is fast. Do you have any information regarding why it's such a fast waitlist? Because most students accept right away or because there are a lot of refusals? I received a mass email saying I was accepted but it clearly was not addressed to just me. Also, the email said "Formal notification of your acceptance by the Graduate Dean should be forthcoming pending receipt and verification of any required official documents" so I assumed this meant that they are also mailing me an official letter (or email)? Also, there is portal for financial aid for admitted students that does not yet have my information. So, anyway I think my acceptance is in process but I'm definitely in (at least I hope I am haha).
  2. I will be there!!! I'm really excited about MGH, I've heard such good things about the program and the facilities too. Hope to see you there NCAR823
  3. I was unofficially accepted to SDSU yesterday afternoon--it was a reach for me so I'm really happy I got in. They gave us a deadline of April 15th as well. It stinks because everyone has the same deadline and I'm still waiting to hear back from some schools that I'm interested in...I wish they gave us more time between acceptances and the deadline.
  4. Congrats @autismadvocate! It's awesome that you are locked into your school before April!! The pressure is (hopefully) off of you now and you can relax and just look forward to grad school next Fall
  5. Hahahahahahhah me and my sister have been quoting this all day!!! Sundays are so frustrating lol
  6. I did ask about funding and they basically said that financial aid was awarded with the initial acceptance letter so we would have heard about it on the phone. But, I'm not sure if they reassign if people turn down their financial aid offers. I read on one of the threads last year that BU does not do that but I'd be curious to know if MGH does.
  7. @mheroux92 I hear you, it's surprisingly hard not to get wrapped up with application stress while you're away! I just went for a week long vacation and I thought time away would take my mind off of applications, but I still ended up being checking multiple times a day like a crazy person, haha. But, I wish you luck--try to occupy yourself and when you get back hopefully you'll have good news
  8. I was startled by it too!!! Never thought I would get in. I was also accepted to MGH! (but no scholarship for me ). BU gave me an assistantship, which might help a little but it's such an expensive school it might add up to the same as MGH without a scholarship. I always assumed I would go to a Boston school but with this Vandy news I might have to reconsider that. I know that it is a really solid program but to be completely honest I haven't done too much research on the program outside of asking people for their personal opinions on it. I feel like the best bet would be to actually visit the place and see it for yourself. On the email they gave some dates for when we can visit: March 14, 24, 28, 31st and April 4th, 7th, 14th. I see that you're from Boston too...road trip???
  9. University of Tennessee was emailing applicants yesterday and Vanderbilt is in Tennessee--maybe admissions offices there work on the weekends at this time of year!! haha. I doubt we'll hear back today but hopefully we'll hear something this week...
  10. It was weird because when I looked last night (on March 1st) the result search said it was posted on March 2nd, which hadn't happened yet for my time zone. And I live on the East coast so unless they live in England or something I have no idea how that happened lol. Maybe it was a glitch. I don't know though I could be confused haha. But I haven't recieved an email yet
  11. Aww @LMZ that's too bad. It's SUPER expensive to go there anyway, so don't let it get to you. I'm sure you'll have better options elsewhere
  12. Just got accepted to BU!!!!! Did anyone else get an email?
  13. @lorenzojojo Awwww no I'm sorry Your stats look good so I'm surprised you got a rejection. But I guess that's just the nature of applying to Master's SLP programs... at least you can always try again next Fall
  14. @argslp I just missed you, I'm going tomorrow! Just did my interview for Emerson today and it was stressful. That's just me though, I get really nervous under pressure! I hope BU isn't too bad
  15. I received confirmation a few weeks ago that my interview for Emerson will be this week (Friday at 11:30). Has anyone gone through the graduate school interview process at any other schools? I'm wondering what kinds of questions I'll be asked and I'm starting to freak out!
  16. Thanks! Oh god, 11 out of 17 spots were filled by post-bacs? I've heard that it is a competitive program to get into so I'm sure it's similar at SDSU. Haha, oh well, at least I'm well prepared for a rejection letter. I have other schools that I'm applying to but I was really hoping to end up somewhere warm . Fingers crossed that they consider me for one of the other spots!
  17. Hi I'm applying to San Diego State and I was actually wondering if anyone knows if it is harder to get into SLP programs in California if you are out-of-state? And if so, why? I feel like I have heard this mentioned in threads in the past but I don't understand why this is an issue. I know for schools around me (Boston) it is not something that matters at all.
  18. Hi everyone, I just took the GRE too...ughhhhh I keep refreshing the ETS website for the Writing score! haha
  19. Hi everyone! I'm a out-of-field undergraduate Psych major and I'm applying to SLP Programs for the Fall of 2014. I'm taking online leveling courses at Utah State while I work full-time as a research assistant but I'm dying to start real grad school. I just took my GREs so thats one step out of the way I think I have my list of schools picked out that I want to apply to but I keep changing my mind. For me, the real issue is that I would like to go somewhere out of state (or out of New England) but I'm not sure where my best shot at scholorships will be. I know that SLP programs competitive just to get acceptance letters, never mind financial support but it's something to shoot for anyway, lol. Has anyone heard of programs that offer decent scholarships? Or a chance at fellowships/graduate assistant tuition remission?
