  1. Got an email response back from the main biosciences department. They didn't mention what I'm missing or anything and said, "The programs are still selecting applicants for interviews and they hope to have it completed by late next week. " So there's that... although I'm not sure how relevant that sentence is since it seems automated and don't know when it was written
  2. That makes sense... I'm probably somewhere in the same boat then. Pretty sure I was rejected regardless of what I was missing too. And see you at the UW interview! Super excited about that one
  3. Hmm interesting. Everything else seems to be listed as complete for me too but they didn't email me to confirm anything after I submitted it. Thanks for this info though! I'll post again when I get a response.
  4. Right?! Time to break out the heavy jackets and stuff and hope for the best. Good luck!
  5. Oh jeez major fail on my part. Literally just realized my Stanford app was listed as incomplete. Emailed them asking what exactly I'm missing but I'm expecting a rejection at this point. I guess it's not in the cards for me to stay in California. Anyone else scared of the cold for Midwest/East Coast interviews? lol
  6. Just got my official rejection too. At least we have closure?
  7. also don't have mine yet but all of the interview coordinators I've emailed with stated/implied they'd be sending me itineraries about a week before the actual interview
  8. IIRC they are Jan 30-Feb 1 and Feb 6-8. Not sure about wolbachia but I applied for the immunology program.
  9. Probably PMB or IB since plant biology is under those departments. I think MCB interview invites have been coming in slowly since the end of December but no idea if they're still calling people... haven't heard anything from them either.
  10. Oh dang. I had no idea. Then I seriously hope they haven't booked anything lol
  11. Thanks! I assumed as much. They responded to my confirmation this morning, so I'm crossing my fingers they haven't booked anything yet or if they have, they're able to switch flights? I sent the school an email about the whole thing but they're on the east coast and I think the office is already closed for the next few days. I guess I'll just wait.
  12. Does anyone know how possible is it to switch interview dates after confirming? I hope it doesn't reflect poorly? My top two schools conflict, and it's making me super stressed.
  13. Yeah... I applied straight for Immuno under DMS and not Micro+Immuno in BBS and haven't heard anything either. There's still hope?
  14. Thanks for the heads up. Will be freaking out with you... one of my top choices and gah there is no emoticon that reflects how nervous I feel ha
  15. Not sure about others but submitted mine 12/1 a few hours before it was due and heard back this morning
  16. I think I'll be going to that weekend too! The other weekend conflicts with another school that also has us doubling up. See you there probably!
  17. Just got my Michigan PIBS followup email. Interview dates are 1/30-2/1 and 2/6-2/8.
  18. I'd email Johns Hopkins back asking if they potentially have another interview date available. I also had two schools with conflicting dates but I contacted the school I hadn't already confirmed with letting them know about the conflict, and they were happy to switch me to another weekend. Or you can wait a bit to see if you get rejected (hopefully not though!) from either Harvard or Stanford? The former is probably a better idea.
  19. Just got an invite to University of Chicago BMD (2/20-2/22)! ... which is right in the middle of the Yale (2/20-2/23) one. In cases like this, do people just try to make it for the interview day itself? Going to email Chicago asking if the interview is spread out over the weekend or if it's just on one day like Yale (2/21). If anyone has any advice/suggestions about this, it'd be appreciated!
  20. I'm a bit lost in terms of which schools to apply to, so any help/comments would be appreciated! Undergrad Institution: Top 10 public Major(s): Immunology, Plant Biology Minor(s): GPA in Major: 3.50 (Immunology) Overall GPA: 3.48 Position in Class: slight above average? Type of Student: Asian female GRE Scores (revised/old version): Q: 164 (89%) V: 164 (93%) no idea how that happened W: 4.5 (78%) B: nope Research Experience: I'm kind of all over the place... At my school: - 1.5 years studying plastid evolution in the grasses - 1.5 years studying stress resistance in C. elegans One summer abroad: - studied prostate cancer metastasis ... but sadly no papers or posters Awards/Honors/Recognitions: - Dean's honors once (the lone award of my undergraduate career haha) Pertinent Activities or Jobs: - Grader/reader for a few plant classes - peer advisor for immunology - co-created and taught a few classes (special program at my school allows undergrads to create and teach their own classes) - helped organize an interdisciplinary research conference twice Special Bonus Points: Haven't asked yet but the plan is: One LoR from each of my two PIs on campus and one LoR from a professor I took an intensive lab class with (really small class). Applying to Where: looking at immunology and some cancer programs - UWashington: immunology, pathology, MCB - Berkeley - UChicago - NYU Sackler - Stanford - Yale ? UCSF, WUSTL, Columbia, Brown ? GPA's not the highest and no publications, but I'm hoping my LoRs and research experiences help. I'm not sure if I'm looking at appropriately ranked schools. I'm assuming Yale, Berkeley and Stanford would be my reaches, but does anyone know if I stand a good chance at the other schools? Also, is applying to three programs at UWashington overkill? It's just that I'm a little freaked out after reading comments about how competitve UWashington Immunology was last year. All three programs are appealing to me, and I just want to increase my chances a bit. Lastly, assuming the first six schools are fairly to really competitive, should I apply to a few other places (the last four) as well? And are there any other schools I should be looking at?
