  1. I was asked on a MFA application to describe the nature of my writing and the writing process, but I drew a blank. Help! How would I go about answering this question?
  2. Thank you all for the helpful information.
  3. I want to eventually get my Masters degree in English literature; however, I want to know if taking an independent study course now will improve my chances of getting into a good program later. Is this course necessary?
  4. I know that I definitely want to go to grad school in the English literature/Creative writing fields, but I may not want to go as soon as I get my bachelor's degree. Should I still get the recommendations while I'm in school, save them, and then use them when I apply to programs? Will grad schools frown on older letters of recommendation? And when I say older, I mean that I might not apply for three to five years after my graduation because of military service.
  5. Hello, I hope to be accepted into a MFA program in the near future. However, I am concerned that schools will frown on my lack of writing experience. Although I will be graduating with an English degree in 2015, I still don't believe that my writing samples will get me into a great program. What MFA programs accept applicants like me who have not written stories their whole lives? Or, should I just settle for lower-tier programs? Thank you.

  7. Hello, I wanted to know why individuals present papers at academic conferences?
  8. I read about a few grad programs that offered Literary studies instead of Literature. Is there a difference between these majors? Is a degree in one of these majors better than the other?
