  1. Thank you for your post. I am interested in a career in academia as well.
  2. I was accepted into the Distance Pathway MSW program at CSUSB. I completed the first quarter already and am on week 3 of the second quarter. So far so good! I'm still adjusting to the fully online program but in time it will become second nature.
  3. I wanted to know what other people experienced in the MSW program at CSUSB. Just general information. I mailed my application to CSUSB at the end of January. They have received it and it is in the review process. I called about a week ago and was advised that their decisions would be mailed out in late March.
  4. Did you end up attending CSUSB? I'm applying to that college for Fall 2015.
  5. Hi there! I'm in my final year at CSUCI in Camarillo completing my Bachelors of Science in Psychology. I graduate in May 2015. The CSU Fall application season opened yesterday and I'm going through the CSU Mentor process to apply to CSUSB. Is anyone else on these boards applying to CSUSB? I live in Ventura County and the school is in San Bernardino County so I will be attending through their distance program. I find it difficult to find any information on their program other than on the school website. I once inquired last year if anyone was applying to their program but did not get any response. I would love to hear about other people's experience applying to and attending the CSUSB MSW program. I am attending their information session next Monday and am very excited to learn more about the program. Thank you!
  6. Thank you for reply Dassine. I will look into the University of North Dakota online program as well.
  7. I live in Ventura County, California and am currently attending CSUCI and will graduate in Spring 2015. I want to a distance program as I have three small children. My interest is in Medical Social Work and Individuals with Disabilities as my first daughter was born with a chromosome abnormality and severe health problems and spent a lot of time at Children's Hospital L.A. My dream schools would be USC or UCLA but due to finances I'm looking at CSUSB, CSULB and CSU Chico as they each have distance MSW programs. Any thoughts on these programs in connection with my interests? Also when do you start applying for Fall 2015? In Fall 2014? I was thinking of taking the GREAT this coming summer and also getting my letter of recommendation and personal statement.
  8. I live in California and have looked at all of the programs. I am a mother of three young children under the age of five and work part time at a non profit family resource vented associated with our county's Regional Center which served individuals with disabilities throughout the entire lifespan. My work provides parent to parent support and resources to the individuals served and their family. My first daughter had a chromosome abnormality and was considered medically fragile. We spent most of her life in and out of Children's Hospital Low Angeles. She is my inspiration and I would like to work with families in a hospital setting as a Social Worker. USC would be my dream school because it has the perfect program for my interests however I can not afford that student debt after I graduate. My husband is much older than me and plans to retire in about five years. About the time I will graduate with my MSW. The CSUSB program is fully on line and accredited by the State of California however beyond their website I have found very little information on their program. Their on line option is three years and $36,000. I plan to apply next fall as I will graduate with my BS in Psychology inspiring 2015. I live in Ventura County and have been meeting more people in the field of Social Work. They have told me that the jobs available here require a Masters in Social Work but they are not concerned with the college you graduated from. Has anyone on this string come across anything on the programs at CSUSB? If so, I would appreciate your feedback.
  9. How is the process going for you SFGiants fan? I will graduate from CSUCI in Camarillo with a BS in Psychology program in Spring of 2015 and I plan on applying to CSUSB for Fall 2015. I haven't found much on this program on this forum but from my research on the internet it seems to be the best program for me. I am going to apply to their distance MSW program.
  10. I am currently attending Cal State Channel Islands in Camarillo, CA and will graduate with a degree in Psychology in May 2015. I have three small children and want to attend a CSU school that offers a distance program. I have been researching the online programs in California online and I am leaning towards CSUSB (San Bernardino) and CSULB (Long Beach) with preference in that order. My career goal is to become a Medical Social Worker and to do my internship in either a hospital in my area or at Children's Hospital Los Angeles as my first daughter spent her short life of fie years in and out of CHLA and I have a special bond with the people there. Does anyone have experience with the CSUSB program? I have had a hard time finding much information on it besides what is on the school website. Thank you!
