  1. Ramya, are you applying to Yale? Any word on admissions yet?
  2. I think Yale will send out all the responses during the first week of March, but if last year is any indicator, some people heard good news from their POI a week before that. I hope we all hear good news from Yale!
  3. Jump- does it say its been completed on the first page?
  4. Just starting to get a topic going for those who have applied to Yale. What subdivision, what news?
  5. Hi Khannnn, where were you accepted and where are you waiting? As for me, waiting on Yale and BU.
  6. Any word on Yale? I know that they are doing interviews but from my understanding, this is more for the socio-cultural applicants and not archaeology. Does anyone know anything about Yale archaeo?
  7. Does anyone know anything about Yale? It doesn't seem like POI's contacted anyone until the end of Feb last year.
  8. Anyone out there waiting on Harvard, Yale, or BU? Any word?
  9. Harvard typically sends stuff out through snail mail, usually towards the end of February. Most people seem to hear before that directly from a POI. As for Yale, it could be late Feb. to the first week of March, notified through e-mail.
  10. MPollywog- Yikes! I still have a recommender who has only "started" his letter, but he is my fourth. The other three have already submitted. What you said makes sense though.
  11. MPollywog- Harvard GSAS starts spring semester on the 27th. I wonder if faculty start looking at apps the week prior?
  12. Does anyone know what to expect from Yale and Harvard this year? According to previous posts, it looks like we'll still be waiting another month….
  13. Hi MPollyWog- Are you Meso?
  14. Thanks for the reply. This process always feels like herding cattle! Unfortunately only one of mine got the letter in within the first week. The weekend is a good idea. Thanks again!
  15. Once our applications have been submitted, how often should we be hitting the "resend" to remind our letter of rec writers? What is too much? I'm thinking once every five or six days might be ok….any thoughts?
  16. BU, GW, and Harvard for Mesoamerican archaeology
  17. Thanks. Hey mesoarch, where are you applying this year?
  18. Hi all, Quick question- I could use some advice. One of my letter writers from last year has not responded to my e-mail requesting his letter again this year. He wrote for me last year but I wanted to check and make sure he was willing to do it again this year. I assume he wouldn't have a problem being that there was no falling out or obvious reason for him not wanting to do it. Deadlines are fast approaching and I am wondering whether or not to put him down as one. I'm sure he's busy with the end of the semester as well.
  19. Hi all, I'm sure everyone is starting their applications and working on their SOP's. I have a question and would appreciate as much feedback as possible. I have an outstanding record of publishing/presenting including collaborations with senior scholars. I even have a book contract with a university press for an edited volume. I applied last year to only several schools but did not get in based on GRE scores, the weakest part of my application by far. It did get me wait listed at one Ivy League school and wait listed at another decent university. Now I did not address my low GRE's in my SOP but I am seriously considering it this year. I simply didn't have the time to retake them because I was honestly busy with my book, publications, and two presentations. I would appreciate any advice as to what I should do. Would it sound like I was complaining? Thanks all!
