  1. That is the situation I was in last year. I decided to do AmeriCorps which has been a really great opportunity. Several states have Campus Compact programs (I know NY, CT, PA and OR and I'm sure many other states) where you work on a college campus which I think is a great opportunity to get experience in the field and do service (Also many of them have free housing). I do think that it helped my applications and the experience has definitely been good. I did defer but I only ended up re-interviewing at one of the schools and I didn't reapply to the one school that rejected me. If you're really worried about the GA interviews I think another year of experience would definitely be helpful. It will give you more to talk about in interviews and more confidence in the field.
  2. They said in that last email we would be getting the information on the 21st.
  3. I also applied for the Student Affairs program and have not heard anything
  4. It says on the website that assistantships are done separately for Higher Ed. I got an email yesterday about the interview dates.
  5. there was a separate link underneath where it said I was submitted that said view status or something like that
  6. I'm not sure yet. I submitted my application November 19th
  7. I was accepted last week to the higher ed program. I just got an email saying my status was updated and could be viewed and there was a letter of acceptance when I logged in.
  8. Yeah I heard on Wednesday. But there is a later interview date so it's possible they are doing 2 rounds of acceptances. Good luck!
  9. Yeah, I'm lucky it's only a few hours away. I'm really interested to hear more about GA interviews.
  10. yep! I'm really looking forward to it. I've heard so many great things about the school and I hear the campus is awesome and can't wait to go.
  11. I was very excited to get invited for an interview at the program. I can't wait to go to the campus. Just thought I'd see if anyone else will be interviewing?
  12. I did apply for Student Affairs. Both really come down to location. I wasn't a huge fan of Lansing and just got a bad vibe (I really can't think of how to describe it) in general. The program seemed great and I appreciated that but in the end I just couldn't picture myself there. I mean I also had a really horrible time with traveling (bus didn't show up making me miss my connection) so I just had a really negative attitude coming out of the trip. It made me want to explore my options more because I felt like I didn't enough last year. I have no interest in staying in CT so that is why I'm not considering UConn. I actually did a webinar to find out about the program and it seems pretty great honestly, but I just don't want to stay in CT so I cut it off my list.
  13. I'm originally from Buffalo so I know a bit about the schools. I have a friend finishing the program now, last year she told me that they had to make changes to their funding and now no longer waive tuition for assistantships. She was the last cohort to get tuition waived. I know the UB program is pretty small but I don't know much about it. I do know that they work a lot with other colleges in the area because there are many students can get assistantships at smaller schools nearby that's stipend is enough to cover tuition, one of my other friends had this as an offer but ended up turning it down. I interviewed at Canisius last year and some of the students there did internships at UB and vice versa.
  14. I'm in the same boat. I applied last year and didn't get an assistantship. This year I've been doing Americorps actually working on a college campus so I hope that experience will help. Last year I deferred my acceptance to Michigan State, but to be honest I didn't like it very much. I'm not sure if I will even bother interviewing again yet. Last year I only applied to schools without GRE required but this year I decided to take the test so I could have more options applying. I've applied to NYU, U Penn, University of Vermont, Ohio State and Boston College.
