Most universities encourage work like you do. Though, it is true, for many schools within the selection process you must usually decide what area to apply to in order for them to view your portfolio for admission. So just pick the area to apply to that strongest represents your portfolio, and because you work with so many mediums this should actually be an advantage for you during the selection process. My point is don't not apply to a school you want to just because they don't have a certain program description. Once you get in you can usually do anything you want and its encouraged!

Very surprised by that news of Cornell especially considering they usually offer full tuition.

I have received nothing. I emailed them though and they said I was rejected.

To all - please don't get down on yourself. The beauty about art is that it is unique and personal. You all have braved sending your work out into the world to be judged, which is the hardest thing to do! The reality is that schools have politics, professors have interests and often professors at like universities share those interests. Maybe you don't fit into what is going on with the program (ie - maybe they love theory and your work does not speak to theory). Not to mention a million other factors (connections people might have that you don't ect ect). Point is - there is little to no merit in letting rejections get you down about the quality or worth of your work. In the end it is the making that matters. Sooner or later you will find where your talents fit in - and believe me - everyone on this board is still navigating the hectic, often hurtful, but beautiful world of art. I say keep your head up and realize that since you all are so concerned about getting into a program and making art it means you have passion - you really care! Don't let anyone strip that from your hearts!

Reminds me of a similar rejection I got. They rejected me via email to the wrong program. A few minutes later I got another email apologizing (saying their TA sent rejections to the wrong people), with two obvious typos and a rejection to the correct program.

Just emailed Cornell (painting) and they told me...so you might want to email them if you are wondering like I did...

Just got some stats. VCU Painting/Printmaking program. 229 applicants for 9 spots. Good luck everyone!
