  1. The scholarship is a Dean's Leadership. So my extensive experience with homelessness and creation of numerous programs in undergrad and with the shelter I am working is most likely why I received it. I am an Americorps volunteer at a homeless shelter and created a feeding ministry in college. The writings I did for the scholarship were completely based on my interest in and goals to impact homelessness in Los Angeles. I do not think that USC really cares about the financial need of graduate students. Everyone is in need of money. But what action you put behind your goals is most valuable.
  2. I got a phone call today from USC. They are awarding me a Dean's Leadership scholarship for $25,000 for 2 years. So $50,000, I am so thankful! Now that tuition is seemingly do able with modest loans, I am getting super excited.
  3. I was cooking dinner at the homeless shelter I work at. I went to change the song on my pandora station and had a email from USC saying I was accepted!
  4. I was accepted to Loyola University Chicago. 3/17 I randomly checked the online portal and there was a E-Letter saying I was accepted. No email notification or phone call. Has anyone heard from University of Chicago?
  5. Thank you!! Have you decided what you are doing about housing? And I applied for Full time at University Park. So Excited!! Fight on!!
  6. Yes, I have been waiting since those dates! It has been the most exhausting process I have ever been through, but I am excited to move forward now. USC has always been my dream school, so it was worth the wait. I know it should be any day for Loyola Chicago, but they would have to guarantee nearly a full scholarship for me to give up on USC.
  7. I was accepted to USC!! Found out via email today! They want a deposit by 3/21 so hoping I hear back from Chicago soon. But most likely I am going to be a Trojan! Fight On!
  8. I applied to DU just a few days ago for MSW. I am anxious to find out what the admissions decision is. Personally, I have toured the campus and local area, and fell in love. There are great organizations throughout the city to intern at and specially homelessness, my area of interest is prominent in Denver. I would warn you that Denver is much more progressive and liberal than most major cities, but there seems to be something for everyone. I am not worrying about the price tag at this point. If its a program that you feel is a good fit, I would go for it. And congrats on the Merit Scholarship!
  9. Thank you! This process is so exciting and terrifying. I also recieved finished my scholarship app for USC today, and I am hoping that one works out. Does anyone know of any schools with application fee waivers for AmeriCorps volunteers?
  10. Applied to USC 11/15 and just sent my application 12/9 to University of Chicago for the early priority deadline. University of Denver is next. Also going to apply to a few safety schools. Anyone have any advice on safe schools to apply to?
