  1. Congrats to you too, bp! Welcome.
  2. Yay! Congratulations Khannnnn and Forsaken! Getting some love from graduate schools on Valentine's day, woot!
  3. If any archaeologists are still waiting on UT Austin, a friend of mine just got accepted to the PhD program there with funding. I don't know if they are done sending out acceptances or what, but just thought I'd add to the general info base.
  4. A quiet day of waiting, so far. The results survey is so quiet today!! I'm just going to try to assume I won't hear from my other 4 schools until March. Then if I do, I'll be pleasantly surprised.
  5. Dana- I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think he would assume you were lying without at least sending a quick email to ask about it. It is really common to change a paper title at the last minute, so he likely just figured that or something. More likely they're just still figuring out things or something. Anthropology/archaeology profs are not well known for being timely with this sort of thing.
  6. Congratulations, strudelle!! I'm so glad it worked out for you in the end :-)
  7. I got rejected too
  8. Give them at least 48 hours to respond to your email before you ask again.
  9. Hopefully by march I'll have heard SOMETHING!! Just one acceptance and I'll stop obsessing... Probably.
  10. It would make it hard... If I had anything to do. But I am a crm archaeologist, meaning I work outside excavating sites. When there is snow, we don't work and I have no work I can do from home. I guess I could do laundry? Or clean or something? But having nothing to do also means nothing to distract me from grad school obsessing, which is extra lame.
  11. Sarab- I'm snowed in too!!! And I agree. I tend to assume that if a subfield isn't listed, the person is cultural. It seems like the majority of anthro students/profs at any school are sociocultural, and as an archaeologist I have a tendency to always list my subfield. Maybe? Hopefully?
  12. Resurrectionist- sorry to hear you didn't get in, but congratulations on getting waitlisted! In a huge and competitive applicant pool, that's an impressive accomplishment! May I ask- did you apply to archaeology or anthro and were you applying for a phd or a master's? Thanks and best of luck in your other applications!
  13. Let me clarify- I don't know for sure that cuts have already been made. But I was told by Professor Roosevelt that first he has all the applications for 2-3 weeks, then he divides them by subfield, which happened around Jan 20. He sends them to prospective advisors, and each faculty ranks the people who have applied to study with them. The top ranked applicants' files are sent to the whole faculty (which is supposed to have happened sometime in early to mid Feb), who then meet to discuss which 6 to give offers. Or maybe there were two full faculty meetings, I don't remember. In either case, there have probably been unofficial cuts (or rather, selection of a "short list" of top applicants to consider). But as far as I know no one's received an admission or rejection from BU Arch. I just meant that if someone is asking for your transcript (as another applicant mentioned), you are probably highly ranked. But I didn't mean to imply that I'd heard of anyone knowing anything. :-/ I guess we'll all have to wait a few more weeks before we have any news, sadly! Hopefully it will be good news!
  14. Someone posted an acceptance to brown with the comment "Rejected!!" Was this an error or a joke? Just curious about what you all think; I didn't apply to brown anyway...
  15. You all are so encouraging and awesome! Thanks for giving me hope to wait another day!! (Not that I have any other option). Still rocking out in complete and utter silence here...
  16. Hey all. I spoke to Dr. Roosevelt in late January, and he said the applicant pool was around 120 this year. Maybe it increased since you asked, Daisy, or perhaps some applicants withdrew already? Weird. He told me they planned to send out notifications around the last week in February. Also, in my response to WhattheWhat, I wasn't sure if that person was applying for anthro or arch, but two people called the anthro dept and found they'd already been cut. According to the timeline my BU POI laid out for me, some archaeology cuts have already been made. Whether they would inform you if your application is still in play, I have no idea. I assume if they are asking for your transcript, that is a great sign! Preliminary evaluation can be done without a transcript, I've heard, so perhaps they didn't need it until now? Here's hoping for good news for all of us!!
  17. A facebook friend of mine posted today that he got into Michigan for cultural anth. But I have no further details...
  18. Given the fact that there have already been some rejections, I'm guessing it means you've made it to finalist consideration. Congrats!
  19. Congrats tortallknight! That sounds like a very cool program. :-)
  20. I'm planning to bake cookies.
  21. Me too. We should form a club.
  22. I'm a historical archaeologist, working in the US. Pm me if you want more specifics! You?
  23. Is your friend archaeology or socio? Congrats on your acceptances!
  24. Apparently they got an (unprompted) email from Berkeley telling them to check their status on the website. If your status on the website hasn't changed, you haven't been rejected yet!
  25. Many congratulations! This cycle appears to starting to look up, generally. Hopefully this marks the start of a season filled with good news!!
