I am not an undergrad though, I already have a graduate degree (not in classes either, I graduated from the program already). I was offended by their conditional acceptance to be honest.

1. I submitted one app early, and got in already. However, they admitted me for Spring. I told them I can't go until Fall, they send that is fine, however, they want me to send an intent to enroll form back. And I won't know any financial information until after I decide. After looking at this program compared to my other schools, I am not really interested but am cared to send the reject back to them in case I get in no where. This school also gave me a conditional acceptance, I have to take and pass 3 specific classes with B's. That isn't a huge issue for me but makes me a little scared about my chances at other schools. 2. That was for a Masters program, my other programs are PhDs, should I just give it up right now?

Quick questions: 1. Is my CV/Resume allowed to be more than 1 page (when I graduated from Law School, we were told to keep it at 1 page). 2. Should I include jobs I worked at during college on my resume? (like hotel's and call-centers, so not relevant to my degree but showing I was working significant amount of hours?). Thanks!

Hey, One of my professors wants me to write the LOR for my apps. This prof is pretty well-known and I have a good relationship with them so I am OK with writing the LOR. However, I am applying to 2 different sort of programs at 5 different schools. Should I personalize each letter and email it to the prof stating that they are for specific schools or should I just write one more basic letter that can be submitted to all schools? (I am a little scared that the prof may send the wrong LOR to the wrong school!)

Advice Needed ASAP: Should I change my test date?
Angelicasassy replied to Angelicasassy's topic in GRE/GMAT/etc
Yeah, I just don't think it will be doable if I postpone the test. I just have so much more to do. I guess I am just freaking myself out. Big, deep, calm breaths Angelica!! haha. I guess its time to buckle down now. Hopefully, I will be reporting happy news come Monday afternoon. -
OMG, I am so glad to hear that. I realized that I wasn't even doing them properly (even though I knew how I was meant to do them). I also had a blank moment, when I started doing synonyms instead of antonyms. I am feeling so overwhelmed right now.

OK, I am supposed to take the test on Monday for applications due 12/15. I think I can change the test date for $50 (but tomorrow would be the last day). My sample scores are all over the place and not yet at the 1200 score. I did the Princeton Review hard practice set today and did not do well, which makes me think I am not in a good place to take the test right now. However, do I really have time to change the test date? I still have to write all my sop's, clean up my writing sample and do applications. I would have all day fri, sat and sun to cram (I am a good crammer) but not sure if I just give myself more time. Any advice would be helpful! I am freaking myself out BIG time here!

The Princeton review practice sets have fill in the blanks sections for the verbal and math sections. I haven't seen any of these in the practice tests I have taken. Does the actual GRE have the verbal questions with blank i ii and iii for real??

OMG, that just made me feel worse. Eek. I am starting to get very depressed abt this application process (might have something to do with the test I just bombed as well).

Hey, This is what the email said: "Our faculty look at each application as a whole, concentrating on the statement of purpose and resume, through which an applicant’s experiences, academic/career goals, and research interests are communicated. Those three elements are the biggest focus for faculty- the summation of the applicant’s dedication and passion for education. At the doctoral level, most of our students’ transcripts indicated a GPA of somewhere between a 3.6-4.0, which most students having some graduate work/degree under their belt. The school-at-large is looking for a GRE score of 1250 and above." So it seems as if the 1250 is for the whole school. But I suppose they are kinda saying that they look at the application holistically. It's just hard to imagine how holistic it is when actual numbers are thrown into the mix.

This is for all applicants to UPENN. I just got an email from the school saying that they have a 1250 GRE Minimum score they look for, eek. And the range of GPA's is 3.6-4.0. (The GPA was related to my program in education, but the GRE score is school wide). I don't even know if I should bother applying now. My GPA is not there, and I don't think my GRE will be either! So sad!

I would also be willing to critique it for you. PM me as well.

Good Luck, I am taking mine in a week and am scared!!

It should be OK. I haven't really glanced over it much because I am studying for the GRE (eek) but do feel it is a better piece of work. Argh!! I really hope I can get everything done on time.

I am applying to some history and American Studies programs that ask for a writing sample. Here is my conundrum- I have a bachelors in History and have one paper that is OK. I also have an excellent paper that I wrote in law school, but is pretty heavy in legalese. However, it does have a historical component. Which sample should I clean up and submit?

Hey, thanks! I emailed my number 1 school and corresponded with the head of the program but he gave me no real facts, all he kept saying was apply, we are always looking for good candidates. I haven't emailed other schools because I am not sure what I would say. And I didn't even know I could speak to current graduate students- none of the schools I am applying to seem to have much info about the program at all. BTW, if the SOP just says 2-3 pages but no font size, do you think I could use a 10-11 font, or just stick with 12? lol, my SOP is already at 3 pages and I haven't really addressed how my current job has helped me realize what I want to do and study. -
Hello, I am not sure what to do about my applications and am really wondering if I should even apply. My UGA is below a 3.0, I had bad circumstances my first 2 years but it improved. I took the LSAT and went to law school. Realized right away that law wasn't where I wanted to be but finished. Graduated with abt a 3.0 (Law school grades on a curve and my GPA isn't bad for law school standards but I don't know if the adcoms will know that). I worked for a year at a nonprofit in the education field. I want to study education policy and history PhD. programs. But I don't know if I even have a shot. I am taking the GRE in 2 weeks. What should I be aiming for to even have a shot. (I'm not testing that highly). Also, will the adcoms look at my JD negatively? Should I mention why I want a Ph.D. now, even though I have a JD. Btw, my bachelors is in History. I am really passionate about the programs I am applying to, but starting to feel depressed about my chances!

Are you joking? You have a 1500 GRE score and your GPA will weigh much heavier on the later years. Apply to top schools as well, I don't think you have much to worry about.
