  1. I received my email a couple days ago. It was a personal email from the Graduate Admissions Director. He told me I was admitted, described the funding offer, and gave some info about visitation (March 19th). I was told I'd been admitted in an earlier round of decisions that were made a couple weeks ago, but the emails they sent out are probably all in a similar vein.
  2. My letter had that same paragraph, followed by a sentence saying, "While I am unable to provide financial details until the results of the Fellowship competition are known, be assured that with this offer of admission we are committed to providing you a very competitive five year package of tuition and stipend support." I don't think if your letter is missing this portion, that means you won't receive funding. It looks to be just a general statement saying that funding is a possibility.
  3. Thanks for relaying the information you have. It just made me a bit paranoid (this whole process seems to be doing that). I had nightmares of being accidentally sent an admissions letter when I was actually rejected. I'm glad it's cleared up.
  4. To update interested people on the UNC situation, cpaige seems to have been both right and wrong. I emailed the department and got this response: "We actually had our first meeting two weeks ago and admitted just 6 students, you being one of them. Congratulations! We will meet again today and admit some more. Someone from our Admissions Committee should be in touch with you soon to discuss particulars. You will receive a letter from the department also with more details regarding funding, etc." Apparently they're doing two rounds of admissions, so people who have yet to hear back are still in the running.
  5. That's how I assumed the process went as well. I think I'll email the department and see what's what.
  6. I just received an official letter through email from OSU confirming my acceptance. It said they wouldn't make official funding decisions until mid-March but that "with this offer of admission we are committed to providing you a very competitive five year package of tuition and stipend support." I also think they messed up when sending the emails because I got what looks to be the letters for all admitted students (39 of them). All the letters are identical but names and addresses of admitted students appear.
  7. I don't quite understand this. I received a letter from the graduate school over a week ago saying I'd been admitted. How could that be if the poli sci admissions committee hasn't even met yet? That would mean they haven't made decisions yet. Others have also received letters. How could they be accepted to graduate school and not the program?
  8. Thanks! I agree. This offer and UIUC's have been more than I expected from either school. I hadn't heard about FSU's financial trouble, but all the talk of UIUC's problems had me very worried. Maybe schools are just limiting their incoming cohorts instead of reducing funding?
  9. I also received an email from FSU today informing me of my admission with funding. The offer seems identical. I counted FSU as my safety school and the offer is pretty generous.
  10. I got a letter from the graduate office earlier this week, but I wasn't the one who posted it on the results forum. The letter said funding info would come later from the program. I checked their website and it hasn't been updated with any other information. I don't know if they've sent out all the letters or if there are more to come.
  11. Congrats! I'm sure more good news is soon to come.
  12. I also checked my status on the OSU website this morning and got an acceptance. It says "You will receive further admission information by mail." In response to kmp, my subfield is American Politics. I'm interested in mass behavior, campaigns and elections, and public opinion, with a focus on the behavior of minority and immigrant populations.
  13. Thank you! Congrats on your admissions as well. A letter came in the mail from the graduate school. It was short on details; just informed me of my admission and said I'd be received funding information at a later date. I'm not sure when the department will send out letters. I was actually a bit surprised to receive a letter from UNC so soon.
  14. Since it seems most people received letters from Wisconsin today, I'm not rating my chances of admission as very high. Still holding out hope that the letter will come tomorrow, though. More waiting. I think we're all becoming good at that.
  15. Hello all. Thought I'd post on here after lurking for so long. I received one of the UIUC acceptances. I got an email from the Director of Graduate Studies yesterday saying she wanted to discuss the program with me, then a call later that evening informing me of my acceptance. I'm assuming they will be making calls through the end of the week. Needless to say, I am pretty excited. It's my first acceptance and they offered a 5 year funding package. Here's hoping it won't be the last.
