I just logged into UGA's grad status site and it says "departmental approval." They said they would notify only via snail mail so I'm not quite sure if it's an acceptance, but I'm hoping it is!
-
Artsyrunner, congrats on UNC! Must be a huge relief! If you don't mind me asking, when/how did you hear from UGA?
-
I don't have too much advice, but I would recommend starting your search by contacting the advisors and financial aid office at that school. They can at least give you a starting point, since searching via google yields too much information. Some offices may be more helpful than others, but their job is to help students pay for school. Maybe someone else on here will have some more specific advice.

My portal still says the same thing, too. I'm hoping we'll get some clarity later this week. If I remember correctly, last year Temple did three waves of acceptances about two weeks apart. I'm not sure if they're doing the same thing this year or not, but hopefully we hear good news soon!

Oh no! I hope they don't wait until April. Many of mine said they would notify during March. I'm counting on that timeline! -
I'm waiting on Temple and La Salle. Temple notified by email about this time last year. La Salle was a little later via postal service. Each day is one day closer!

Hi, speechiejen. I found my anxiety waned a little when I started posting on here. Welcome! My newest complaint about application season is how hard it is to focus on real school work! I spend more time checking email, this forum, and the result page than I do actually working on homework. Now, back to homework... -
SLP GRAD SCHOOL HOPES~DREAMS~GUESSES THREAD
tchris replied to twinguy7's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Great thread! My dream is acceptance to Temple's bilingual program. My hope is that I get some kind of financial aid. My guess is I will have a tough choice between expensive out-of-state schools and the cheaper in-state schools. But first, I'm hoping for acceptances! -
I already said this in the other thread, but I got my first sign of life yesterday. Interview at Boston University in two weeks!

I'm sorry to hear everyone had such trouble with CSDCAS. I was actually pretty pleased with the way it worked for me. It cut down the number of LORs I had to ask for since I sent the same application to multiple schools. For me, the biggest problem was the price, especially with the schools' supplemental applications on top. I wish they would have waived their graduate application fee for those who used CSDCAS. This application process has been really expensive, and I really hope I don't have to do it again in the spring! But overall, my biggest headaches came from my LOR writers and the schools that didn't use CSDCAS. -
SLPamy, I made a new column on my "application spreadsheet" specifying when I could expect the schools to respond. It certainly did not make me any less anxious. Congrats to everybody that's hearing back!

Anyone applying to southern programs?
tchris replied to SeaSpeech's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I'm applying to some Georgia programs. UGA, GSU, and Armstrong Atlantic -
We're in the same boat, autismadvocate. I envy rollinat and MNIJ because they already have some concrete acceptances. I'm excited to find out where I end up, and the wait is killing me!

Thanks, sayjo, for suggesting this thread. The old one was getting a little long. Here we go.. Acceptances, rejections, waitlists, interviews, glimmers of hope, and consolation. I haven't heard anything from the schools I applied to, but at least the application part is complete. I hope to start hearing about interviews this month. Where does everybody else stand?

I also have a LOR writer that isn't responding. I'm not sure whether or not she's actually going to send them. Last time I heard from her (Jan 9) she said she was going to send them, but nobody has received them yet. -
artsyrunner, I'm applying to UGA and Memphis, too! I'm excited to start hearing back, but the wait is killing me. From looking at when people stated hearing back last year, we can expect to hear from UGA late March-early February and U Memphis during the first week of March. Of course, they could do it differently this year, but I hope it's sooner rather than later!

I was wondering if I was the only one feeling like this. I've submitted most of my applications (still waiting on 1 LOR to be received by 2 schools), so that pressure is off. However, I'm already checking my status at each school, knowing full well I won't be hearing anything until February at the earliest. I've even been checking this board every time I sign on the computer, just to see if anyone has heard anything. My routine when I sit down to the computer: email, gradcafe, grad apps, email again just in case I missed something. It's driving me crazy! At least I'm happy to see some activity on here so I know some people that are in the same boat. I decided I'm going to try training for a 10k or a half-marathon so I can have something to keep my mind off things until I start hearing something back. But until the weather warms up a bit, I'll just have a glass of red wine. Good luck to everybody! -
I shadowed an SLP that graduated from there in the early 2000s and she really liked it!

I'm very interested in working with bilingual clients (Spanish in particular, so my advice may be a little weighted toward that). I met with a professor that I was interested in working with and he gave me this advice: Top bilingual programs: Marquette Temple UT Austin San Diego State (I think. I know it was one in CA but I wasn't interested in going there so it didn't really stick) Arizona These are the programs that are cranking out the most research. Of course, there are other programs that are listed as having a "bilingual emphasis," but you may want to contact them to see exactly what this means. I found that sometimes it just means they have an opportunity to go abroad for a week or two or they have a bilingual language lab. One thing to consider is what aspect of bilingual language you're most interested in. Each of the above programs has a particular area of language that it focuses on. For example, Temple does phonology while some of the others do narrative development or morphology. So, if there's an area that you're interested in, it's worth it to contact the professors and ask about their specialties. I found it very helpful to look up publications done by professors at each school. Also, the schools differ in how the "bilingual emphasis" group interacts with the "normal" group. In some programs, the two groups function as two separate cohorts, where they rarely interact with each other. In others, they're treated as the same cohort except the bilingual group takes different elective programs. I found it unbelievably helpful to meet with somebody that knew what they were talking about. I would recommend starting to look up some publications in areas you may want to research and contacting the professors and programs that share your interest. Don't be afraid to start emailing. You may get mixed results, but the professors tend to appreciate someone being interested in their research.

Programs Still accepting..

Where did you get the info about James Madison? I am planning on applying there for my last application and I thought it was through CSDCAS and the University's Graduate Application. -
Thanks! That's what I figured. I found the GRE code on one of their admissions FAQs, but I didn't know if the information was outdated. I'll contact them later today to verify.
-
Does anybody know what we're supposed to do about schools that don't have a CSDCAS GRE code? I'm applying to Temple and I don't see a code for CSDCAS. I just sent it to Temple's normal GRE code. Is that what everybody else did, too?
