  1. Someone on the results search said Princeton Social was Jan 31-Feb 1.
  2. Someone on the results page posted (after receiving an invitation) that the "Visit Weekend" is Jan 31-Feb 1. I applied to Princeton social as well, but I'm assuming that I'm essentially rejected because I didn't get invited to something taking place 1.5 weeks from now. I e-mailed the department, but never got anything back.
  3. For people in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round of applications: did you apply again to the same places?
  4. I am earning my MS in General Psychology. I'll have it in May. My undergrad is in education, so I wasn't even going to try for doctoral programs with just that. Seeing that some are on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round of applications, maybe that isn't enough either. I guess we'll see. No interviews yet.
  5. Waiting for PhD application updates is like waiting for water to boil... except that eventually the WATER actually does boil.

      Snap. You are absolutely right!

  6. Well, not that it makes you feel any better, but if they're THIS inflexible about this policy (and unwilling to pay your way to compensate for this inflexibility), you probably don't want to be part of this "5-7 year commitment" with that institution. This is such an unfortunate situation for you. I'm so sorry.
  7. Good luck to those who are waiting on invites to go out today!
  8. Social Psych: has anyone heard about the Social program through CU-Boulder? I've seen only one interview invite for Social specifically and would love to know your POI if possible.
  9. Does anyone have any info on social psychology for CU-Boulder? I saw a mass rejection of clinical yesterday, a couple interview invites for unspecified "Psychology" in December, and one invite for Social Psych yesterday. I'd love info if anyone is privy to it. Reply or message me. Thanks! (Is PhD-obsessing a disorder in the DSM yet...?)
  10. I can multitask while waiting for PhD updates: I can eat my feelings WHILE engaging in retail therapy.

  11. I agree that it would be nice to ask questions. Some have listed results from different schools but without mentioning the specific program they applied to. Should I be concerned that interviews have already gone out or was that in a different department that is on a different schedule?
  12. "Copy and paste" is the same favorite strategy that my high school students try to get away with using (I teach high school students)...
  13. Even my dogs know they need to tiptoe around me during this PhD application waiting game...

  14. I'm tired of hearing "You'll get in! Don't worry." from people who don't know just how selective it is. I know they're just trying to be helpful, but if I end up needing to reapply next year, I'm not telling anyone, and if I get in, it will just be like this totally random announcement one day that I'm off to get my PhD and moving away.
  15. Can I ask which schools you applied to that have such a late interview weekend?
  16. If you click on the Results link at the top of the page, you can see which schools have already invited applicants to interview as well as which schools have accepted or rejected applicants.
  17. Haven't heard anything yet from any of the 9 schools I applied to...

  18. Never introduced myself. I applied only for Social Psych PhD programs. I'm nontraditional. Undergrad in social studies and psychology education. Finishing up a General Psychology masters this May while teaching. Have been a high school teacher for Psych and AP Psych for 7 years since undergrad. GRE: V 168, Q 162, W 5 Psych Subject GRE: 840 Masters GPA: 4.0 Undergrad GPA: 3.73 with 3.88 in psych classes I thought my practical experience might help, but maybe not since I've heard nothing so far from any of the schools about interview weekends. I've seen Yale, Princeton, Indiana, and Northwestern interview notifications on the results search. Since the university I'm at right now is a small, private university, finding participants for research has been challenging, and so the research experience part of my application materials was probably most lacking. Any insight on what to expect for someone who graduated from undergrad without a psych degree and then waited awhile to apply for a Phd? Am i just like an old athlete that everyone knows has fewer years left than the newer recruits?
