  1. Hooray! I don't think they do right now but I would email whoever you said you wanted to work with in your SoP and see. I have found it easier to get responses when I email faculty directly.
  2. That's fantastic and you should be super proud! Do they have the same April 15th deadline? I wonder if you could find out where on the wait-list you are so you can get a sense of what you should do. I would hold on to both options for as long as possible!
  3. They are sending out the funding information today, I believe. I know everyone gets funded + a stipend from assistantships. Did you receive your acceptance letter?
  4. Ohhh I see. My friend was also in the same position this year since his advisor moved to NYU MCC in the Fall. That would be so frustrating to lose your advisor in the middle of your work. Good luck!! I am sure you will be able to move.
  5. So should we assume that NYU MCC interview is fake since they are just meeting today? Or did one of you get the interview?
  6. Thanks!! A great way to start the week, indeed! Good luck to everyone this week! I am rooting for you all!
  7. I am glad I could help put things into perspective a little bit especially at a time when every piece of communication we get that is not a straight out rejection or acceptance seems like ambiguous language. It is probably just the applicant stressed-out mindset though. Starting with the initial, "Thank you for your application. We will forward it to the department where you have applied." DOES THIS MEAN I AM IN!!? There are definite pros and cons to every type of program. I happen to be in one where there are only a couple of MA students and so we don't have separate classes from the PhD students and have the same funding/assistantship packages so I think I just lucked out but it also means that there is so much on your plate that it was nearly impossible to fill out applications last semester. The conferences weren't pushed by faculty but I had advice from my UG institution that I should submit my papers to conferences. I think they will recognize your rigorous program and your writing will shine, I am sure. I have heard great things about Temple so congratulations on that!! Great accomplishment already!
  8. I know that you can't be surprised if you are rejected from Annenberg but I did have my hopes up from talks with faculty. I was asked what my stats/profile looked like and it always takes a little of the sting out for me when I see people with "good" stats that also got rejected so... I have a 4.0 Grad GPA, 3.8 undergrad from a top 10 U.S. university, 6 on writing for GRE, NCA and ICA conference presentations as sole author on papers, 4 TA positions, 2 semesters of teacher of record, and 2.5 years as a research assistant. I really think we will all end up where we fit best. Good luck to everyone still playing the waiting game and don't let this process make you feel inadequate! There are too many variables at play (admissions committee members, how many students they already have doing your work/interests, faculty changes etc.) for anyone to feel bad about a rejection (easier said than done, I know). p.s.- does anyone know if schools know if an applicant has already committed to another school they were offered admission to?
  9. I am glad I am not the only one worrying about not getting an invite to USC's visiting weekend. Thanks so much, Duna!! Hope restored! Good luck to everyone who is waiting. I did email USC two nights ago and they responded that all decisions have been made and to expect a letter soon.
