  1. Hey! So attending a CACREP/not CACREP program is all dependent on your future goals. If you plan on being a faculty member at a graduate counseling program, you are going to want to attend a CACREP program. If you are solely interested in clinical experience, it does not have an impact on your ability to be licensed. Make sure your program is license eligible (preparing you to become an LPC) CACREP is focused on having counselors teach students how to be counselors. Non CACREP accredited programs have Counselors and Psychologists teaching students how to be counselors. Therefore, it is up to you! Are you interested in a solely counseling perspective? Or are you interested to have a Psychology background as well?
  2. Did anyone apply to any Counseling/Counselor Education PhD programs?
  3. Those are great questions to consider! There is a slight gap in price, but I wouldn't call it a HUGE gap though. May be able to get a GA position to cover all of the non-ivy cost
  4. Thank you for the responses, it is greatly appreciated!
  5. Thank you all for your input, it is greatly appreciated! (Yep, doing my undergrad at the non-ivy)
  6. They are both professional counseling programs. The non ivy provides students with an MA/Ed.S and the ivy is a M.S.Ed. + M.Phil.Ed. after obtaining the professional counseling degrees I would then apply for PhD in Counseling Psych
  7. Hello everyone! I applied to a few masters programs in hopes to boost my application for Counseling Psychology PhD (yes, I plan to become an RA at whatever school I end up going to). I am not sure which would be better for my application. One of which (the school I currently attend) has an APA Accredited Counseling Psych PhD program. The other does not have Counseling Psych, but it's an Ivy and it is in the top five graduate school's of education. Should I remain at my current institution in hopes of gaining a good reputation with the program to strengthen a PhD application? Or should I go with the higher ranked, ivy? Thank you for your suggestions in advance!

  9. I didn't apply to any of those, however I don't plan to hear from anyone til March and even JUNE for one of the programs ahhh! So don't worry
  10. Did you go to the interview day? (Not sure if MHC and School Counseling are under the same dept lol) I couldn't go so I have a phone interview this week!
  11. To all of those applying to PhD programs, what type of degrees do you currently have/will have by May?
  12. The same thing happened with my TC VIP page, no idea what it means. You may be right though! Considering only one person reported being asked to attend the interview, I think there's still hope!
