  1. Wow! That's amazing! I got into one school, so now I am using that as an excuse to check into the other ones who have not replied back.
  2. Best thing is not to get your hopes up too much. I hope this means that you are almost in! However, there was a POI who had several lengthy email exchanges with me in which he told me that he is close to sending out interview invites and that he thinks I would be a good match. I got a very personal rejection email a few days later. He even responded to my response to the rejection. I wish I hadn't gotten my hopes up!
  3. Some faculty are definitely concerned that if they make an offer you will not accept, so it may help you that you don't have any other interviews. If you got to an interview stage, then you are a strong applicant and something as small as having only one actual interview (and say being waitlisted other places) should not change the adcom's mind. PS. I was asked where I applied and where I am being interviewed. The interviewer said every person gets asked this question.
  4. I'm going to call tomorrow to find out where my application is at with these schools. I am not sure if it will be worse to know ...
  5. Does not hearing anything back from a school (despite knowing that rejection letters and interview invites went out in previous weeks) mean that you are on a wait-list?
  6. Hi everyone. I have a question about late applications. The other day I was going through my grad school applications when I noticed that one read "saved" in the status rather than "submitted". It turned out that after I had made the payment there was one more window I was supposed to go to in order to hit the final submit button. I submitted the application as soon as I noticed, but now it is 14 days late. I sent the department an email, hoping that maybe they will consider me since (I assume) there should be records showing that all materials were uploaded months before the deadline. However, I am not sure what to expect. How likely is it that an application will be considered under these circumstances? Or am I probably just best off hoping for one of the other four schools I applied to? Thanks for the input!
