Tough luck grotian, but thanks for finally confirming what Chicago still has not. Time to chalk up one more for the no column! I spent the whole day cleaning house, holding out hope for an admissions notice (somewhere, anywhere!) to make it all worthwhile. At least I can eat off the floor now...

Respectfully, first and foremost. You're not automatically entitled to such personalized updates (or in coachrjcese: don't be a jerk). Second, a dose of truth: you're incredibly anxious, and some news (either way) would be a relief. Most can empathize with that, especially if you can signal that you empathize with their incredibly busy schedules. This has worked for me in the past, and then again, it hasn't. Certainly can't hurt you though. FORGET EVERYTHING I just wrote, and follow IRIRIR's lead. No way could that backfire.

I'm going to respectfully disagree. Professor BFB seems truly considerate, but I can't say I really fault Chicago for giving us the brush off. Although I would certainly prefer a thoughtful, individualized, and informative response, they ought to have other, more pressing demands upon their time. And if one of us were to be offered admission in the coming days, s/he too would become one of those pressing demands. It's all a matter of perspective.
