Yeah I tend to agree, based on previous results. But who knows I guess. It's no rejection until you get the letter.
-
I know, I was thinking of you Ziz when I was writing that. Here's to us theory peeps!
-
Have any theory people been accepted to Princeton?
-
bob keohane!

Seems like you have a good profile that's above the basic bar for the schools you list. However, like many of the good folks here, it's going to come down to how the individual departments think you might fit in their respective programs. If you have a good statement that draws attention to the ways in which you fit with the particular programs, then I'd be pretty shocked if you didn't get into at least a couple of programs.

lesbian love!

If they have uploaded a decision to your application, then their system will generate an automatic email instructing you to log in to your application, at the bottom of which will be a link to your decision letter. If it isn't there yet, then they have yet to upload it for you.

Mine is totally empty too. I was starting to worry that it meant my app didn't make it to the dept!

It's for the British Columbia PSA. Yay for Olympic fun-ness.

Thanks! :-)

Mixed day: rejected at Yale, but had a paper accepted for presentation at a conference. Semi-Hurray! (?)(!) :-) Condolences to everyone else who was spurned, congrats to those accepted. On to Princeton-Harvard-Columbia!!

Ok ok good grief. You may resume your freaking out. lol.
-
"once a decision has been made.." "decision information will be posted.." Plus the exhortation to keep contact info current. I don't think it was a form email.. but take from it what you like. I don't think they've let anyone know officially.

Yes Chicago theory admits were real.
-
Also, yesterday, in my brief freakout mania over hoax-y admits, I had emailed Yale to ask if they'd made decisions yet, and I got this back from them: "Official notification, once a decision has been made, is delivered by e-mail. For security, such e-mail does not contain the decision itself however. Decision information will be posted in the on-line application. Decisions are made and communicated during the months of February and March. Official decision notification is made by the Graduate School and not individual departments or programs. Only letters or e-mail sent directly from the Graduate School may be considered official notifications of admission and financial aid. It is important that you keep both your e-mail address and mailing address current. Any changes necessary can be made from within your on-line application." Pretty cryptic, I know, but it strongly implies that final decisions aren't finished yet / haven't yet been inputted into their system.

No I think in the past they've done the MA admits a while after the PhD admits. That's a fairly common practice for schools that have a stand-alone MA program to which they transfer unsuccessful PhD applicants, even if you're originally just an MA applicant. They try to get the PhD decisions done first.

I'm a theory applicant to NYU also, and haven't heard anything yet. I'm assuming it's a reject, since based on previous results they seem to wait a while to contact rejects after sending out admits. But who knows, maybe they have some strange staggered process.
-
How rude, hoax people/person! The Princeton ones especially have to be fake, if no one on here is claiming the decisions, and also because it's sooooooo early for them to be releasing their decisions, historically speaking. Although the one reject that mentions danette rivera is clever. Nice touch, hoax-ies.

I dunno about Ziz, but I applied for the MPhil in Theory. Hoping I get in AND a Clarendon. haha. Worked with David Miller at all??
-
Sorry, I didn't mean to rub in a rejection that, truth be told, hasn't actually officially occurred. I think it's super encouraging that you've been referred to their M.A. program; it shows that there's great merit in your app, and I'd definitely be lucky if I got a similar endorsement, I just meant to say they seem to already be fairly along in their decisions process. :-)
-
Thanks for contacting them. Clearly they've made some decisions, or passed some rounds of elimination, since some applicants (like cpaige) have been told (informally) of their status. I guess this next 2 weeks thing is to decide on the final composition of the pool of admits? Yah. Nervous!!! :-)
-
Oh Awesome. That's good to know. I'm pretty excited about the possibility of doing it, especially the 'methods in political theory' course. haha i dunno why i'm excited by methods in theory, but there don't seem to be many comparable courses in north american programs. The only issue of course is funding... oy

Historically it seems like the Yale decisions start to come on the Friday of the first week of February. Last year they started on 6 Feb (a Friday) and the year before it was 8 Feb (also Friday). So... seems like Friday 5 February 2010 is freak out day. At least that's when I'll start with the freaking out. lol. Let's hope I don't get at too much coffee that morning.. Best of luck to everyone, and congrats to those accepted thus far.

I applied to the MSc Political Theory (Research) 1+3 Scheme on 15 January. All I've gotten so far is the final email giving me my 'Lse for You' access, in which I can see that the department is reviewing my application and in which I can access the GSS application form. They say it will take up to 8 weeks for the department to review the app..

cpaige - don't read your SOPs!!!! It'll just make you go crazy. lol. What's done is done. You'll be fine with Yale.
