  1. Congrats varney, how wonderful!
  2. Sorry to hear that, Mr.X. Remember, it only takes 1! Keep your chin up and don't doubt yourself. Good luck!
  3. Good luck Ralpho! May you get into your dream school too, doesn't have to be expensive to fulfil the dream
  4. Congrats oakchild! How did RISD notify you of your interview? Regarding your question, I think it's a combination (and I'm no expert clearly). I'd imagine that they are looking for candidates to display some kind of self awareness around how their work relates to – or reacts against – current ideas.
  5. Hey Varney, 25th Feb. When is yours? Soooo excited / completely terrified. Are you based in the States?
  6. Rejected on 6th Feb for the Royal Academy (London). But just got an invitation to interview at the Slade! Weeeee!
  7. Hey Loric, sorry if you've mentioned already – what specialism are you applying for?
  8. This wait is driving me mental. I've applied to a few more since I joined this forum, just to prolong the agony. Good luck everyone!!! And especially to all the printmakers
  9. Hooray for Kelly! May your good luck continue

  11. So sorry, this may be too late, but the RCA in London has an MA Research degree that you could apply to through Photography, where you could specialise in moving image and performance. The research degrees are often funded.
  12. Mr. X, isn't it better to know asap? This waiting is a killer! Good luck with the RCA, I've applied there too (I applied for Printmaking though).
  13. You crazy digital types. I had to take in a physical A1 portfolio to the RCA last weekend. I'm counting my blessings that I didn't have to post a physical A1 portfolio from overseas!
  14. Do you have photoshop? If yes you can change the dpi to 72 without shrinking them to the smallness you describe. Go to Image > Image size Make sure the aspect ratio constraint button is on (it looks like a chain between width and height) Change the width and height units to pixels Copy the width or height Change Resolution to 72 Paste in the original width (in pixels), the height should adjust automatically Click OK Hope this helps.
  15. Good luck Loric and hope your surgery went well; maybe you need to look into meditation or affirmations to de-stress. I have an affirmation I've been repeating for myself that goes "Let go, and trust the Universe" -- and it was working great until I de-stressed a little bit too much and took my eye off the ball after 5 late night, very-similar-yet-minutely-different-to-keep-you-on-your-toes applications. I discovered over the weekend that I somehow didn't press the submit button for Columbia, after being 5 days early to fill in the reams of forms, uploading 20 portfolio pieces, writing a few hundred words on each piece, and getting glowing recommendations sent. They've told me to think about applying again next year. Kick. Teeth. On the positive side, I could never have afforded it, and that's one less option to feel nervous about! I'm also now super careful about my remaining applications. Repeat this mentally ten times, even if you don't believe it. It will make you feel a little less anxious: Let go, and trust the Universe Let go, and trust the Universe Let go, and trust the Universe Let go, and trust the Universe Let go, and trust the Universe Let go, and trust the Universe Let go, and trust the Universe Let go, and trust the Universe Let go, and trust the Universe Let go, and trust the Universe And after you've de-stressed, get out there and make some more work so that when you get an interview, you can show them stuff you've been working on since you sent in your application.

    MFA as a Parent

Can't really offer any advice as I'm also applying as a parent, but just wanted to say GOOD LUCK! You're not alone.
