Pitt-Behavioral and Community Health Sciences, Phd! First choice and all!

I would love any advice on where to live in Pittsburgh. It seems to be really difficult to find a nice, updated apartment in a decent area. And then, every time I do, the reviews of the management company are terrible. Ideally, I'd like to pay $1100 or less (what I pay now in Austin). Any suggestions as to where to look?

Thanks all. This is really helpful. This was more of a general question as opposed to a Pitt related question. But yet, I have an interview with them on Friday. I suppose I never really thought of funding before. I don't really have any student loans from undergrad or my MPH, so if I have to take out loans, I"m fine with it. My biggest concern is "how am I going to pay to live," however. My top two choices are Pitt and Harvard- both of which are not cheap places to live, so I'm mostly stressed out with that.

This may be a stupid question, but what does full funding entail? Does it include housing/living expenses? A stipend? Or just tuition?

Has anyone applied to Harvard SD in Global Health? I'd be interested to know if you've heard anything.

Hi All: January is killing me; I just want to hear back from one school and it will squash the frequent panic attacks I've been having. I applied for the following programs with a great GPA from my MPH program (4.0), decent GREs (mid 150s range), tons of PH experience, and a great PS. Harvard, DS, Global Health and Population- received fin aid application and invitation to apply to summer admissions. Has anyone else received this? Does this bode well? NYU, PHD, Sociobehavioral Health Tulane, PHD, Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences UT, PHD, Behavioral Sciences, Austin- someone agreed to be my chair at UT, if accepted, but I"m not sure how far this will get me Pitt, PHD, Behavioral and Community Health Sciences SLU, PHD, Behavioral Science and Health Education. Harvard and Pitt are my first choices, but at this point, I just hope I get in somewhere!
