  1. Hi, I just wanted to clarify that they take the average of your entire year (not just a semester) if they need to. At least that is what was done for me for this application cycle. Unless they change the rules by next year I am pretty sure this will continue to be the procedure. Hope that helps!
  2. Sorry meant to quote the above post in my last post (along with emmer89).
  3. Congratulations both of you!!! So happy to hear the news!!!
  4. Mabel also e-mailed me today. I officially took my name off the wait-list at U of T.
  5. Thanks! Good luck with U of T! I have my fingers crossed that you'll hear good news from the department soon.
  6. Nope, haven't gotten off of it yet. I'm going to Western regardless though (don't want to have to take that last pre-req for U of T). I contacted Mabel a few days ago regarding the wait-list status at U of T and she said that the wait-list will remain active until July or until the class is full.
  7. Don't know if I count because I got wait listed at U of T? I am still missing a half course prerequisite for U of T, so I don't know if that was taken into consideration. My reference letters were strong, so I don't think it has anything to do with that (for me at least). However, I do know of one girl (the only other person I know in real life who applied to SLP this round) who was accepted to U of T (and got OGS!) and was also accepted to McGill. She was wait listed at Western, but she also has lots of life experience and just SLP experience in general. She decided on McGill. I think it is really difficult to say in general why or why not someone is accepted at one school and not another. Different people are on each committee obviously, so only they really know why one applicant is selected over another.
  8. Thanks Inny! I will definitely check this out before confirming anything.
  9. Hi I'm just wondering if anyone can help me out with something. What is the difference between a firm acceptance and provisional acceptance on ORPAS? What happens if I choose firm acceptance for an offer of admission and then want to accept a different offer at a later date? I was looking on the ORPAS website to see if I could find the difference between the two 'types' of acceptance, but I was unable to locate this information. If anyone can help me out with this that would be fantastic!
  10. I see a lot of people posting about wanting people to share stats...I didn't get in everywhere that I applied (so I'm not exactly an expert ), but I was successful the second time around with at least one school! I'm hesitant to share stats on a public forum (I'm old school) BUT if anyone wants to PM me privately please feel free to do so.
  11. No the class size at Western has always been smaller than U of T. 36 - 37 max. ORPAS has the stats available in one of the admissions pdf documents.
  12. She responded to me within 10 minutes, but I sent her a message as soon as I saw other grad cafe-ers posting about acceptances to U of T. I think all the acceptances have been sent out, but I've e-mailed Mabel before and she's always been pretty prompt, so maybe she is getting inundated with e-mails/responsibilities right now and she just can't get to it? Also, I don't know if the department would allow her to respond about rejections via e-mail (this is not to say you were rejected at all...I'm just not sure about their policy on this). Either way I think she will respond with something as soon as she is able to.
  13. You can e-mail the student affairs assistant (Mabel Lau) for SLP at U of T and she will tell you in advance. Or you can wait for it by post...the wait-list has 30 people (so not too bad)!
  14. I got wait listed at U of T (e-mailed Mabel once I didn't get an acceptance e-mail and she responded so promptly - love her)! Haha still happy though - 1 acceptance and 1 wait list isn't too shabby. Congrats on all the new U of T acceptances!
  15. Omgsh I feel so ridiculous - that worked though! Thanks! (It even took me 10 minutes to log on at first to check my app status because my hands were shaking so badly and I couldn't locate my password - I was a mess!)
