  1. Rejected from Yale. Saw it coming.
  2. That's awesome. Hope someone declines!
  3. Looks like someone got into Columbia today. Wanna share what your sub-field is? Have any info on how many they're accepting this year?
  4. Wow, congrats on Notre Dame!
  5. Don't rule out Harvard or Yale until March 15. You still have a shot like the rest of us!
  6. I received two letters today. Rejected from SMU, Waitlisted at Baylor. Still waiting on Yale and Columbia.
  7. Sparky, would you like to share which school and field you were accepted to?
  8. thumbnail72 got accepted to SMU last week.
  9. Like the previous posters said, it all depends on your goals and your theological/academic preference. The Ivy League schools have popular M.Div. programs: Harvard Divinity, Yale Divinity, Princeton Seminary. Others popular ones are Univ. of Chicago Divinity, Vanderbilt Divinity, Emory/Candler, Duke Divinity. There are many many more that are also great. check out this site for a larger list: http://www.ats.edu/MemberSchools/Pages/denom.aspx
  10. Not sure which one they prefer. I think they just want to see something tangible saying that you've studied German, as opposed to simply writing on your CV or app that you are studying German on your own, or will learn it over the summer, etc. If you pass an equivalency exam saying that you can read German, I would think that would be just as good as taking courses.
  11. Just wanted to share this because I wish someone had told me this a year ago. If you want to strengthen your application for next year and can't fit a course into your schedule that you have to physically attend, University of Arkansas has a distance learning course in PhD level German for Reading and French for Reading. It's fairly inexpensive too, about $320 for either one. These are go-at-your-own-pace courses and you have a good amount of time to complete it. Fully transferable college credit courses. I'm taking a German distance learning course from LSU right now because i didn't know about these reading courses from UA. For what it's worth, the 2 PhD programs I got accepted to this year both commented on how they really liked the fact that I was already doing German and that it made my application look a LOT better.

  13. Thisistheyear, Which program called you?
  14. Judging from last year's posts, the next two days should provide many with results. Come on letters...
  15. Doing a MTS after a MDiv would make sense, though, if your MDiv was from a, let's say, not very well respected school, or a fundamentalist school. If you want to later apply for a PhD at an Ivy League school, it would make sense to try to get into an MTS program at Harvard Divinity, or similar program.
  16. Spoke to a person in Graduate Admissions at Fordham who said official letters will probably be mailed out around Feb 26th and arriving the first week of March. Just a little while longer!
  17. If you get a good score on the GRE (1400+ with 700+ verbal) it will definitely give you an advantage over others who do not submit scores.
  18. Come on mail! Hurry up. Somebody make these next few weeks go by faster!
  19. This feud is awesome! It's helping to take my mind off of waiting for letters and emails.
  20. Looks like from last year's postings that people applying to Yale Religious Studies and Columbia Religion PhD's started getting accepted or rejected around Feb 25. Anyone heard anything different this year?
  21. "Congrads! Just out of curiosity, (don't feel obligated to answer) did you apply for special scholarships/ funding? Also, are you the person on the results list who received a call from Daddy McShane?" Leagus, I only filled out the regular app. I think they automatically consider you for funding when you apply. No, I wasnt contacted by Daddy McShane, but that sounds like a cool person to be contacted by!
  22. I was accepted with funding to Fordham in the Biblical Studies wing of the Theology Dept by phone a couple days ago. Not sure how many spots they have open this year but I'm pretty sure they are accepting several in the Theology wing of the dept. Good luck to all who applied!
  23. LateAntique, Hi, I was the one who posted the acceptance for PhD at FSU. My field is Religions of Western Antiquity. Congratulations on your acceptance! Good luck everyone!
  24. Flynnkc, I also received an invite to Baylor's weekend. Guess I'll see you there. Congrats! And Congrats to livgreen as well!
  25. There's already a thread started for this. It's named "Let's Do It Again"
