  1. Check craigslist, padmapper, or Vandy off-campus housing lists. All are fairly good sources.
  2. Just decided to accept the offer today for the Masters in HEA program! Current undergraduate here already. It was so difficult trying to decide, but I'm feeling pretty good with my decision.
  3. Does anybody know when GA positions will be completely filled? It seems decisions are being sent on a 'as filled" basis, but I have other schools who have deadlines
  4. This might be an odd question, but does using a slow cooker (especially when turned on all day) increase electric bills by a lot? As a grad student, I would like to keep costs of utilities down haha
  5. Anybody else having trouble deciding between Vandy and another program??? What's the decision maker for you?
  6. Excited to be in Chicago this week! Hopefully I'll meet some of you?
  7. Most likely going back home and staying with the parents while working some minimum wage job. I was planning to work as a residential counselor at a summer program for 6 weeks, but it looks like that's not going to happen since I recently bought flights to KOREA during that time!!!! Wooooo! Otherwise, I'll be reading for leisure and research, spending as much time as possible with my family, dog, and friends, and exercising a lot. Might be the best summer ever?
  8. 6 funding interviews in the next 2 days...so nervous!

  9. So i've been seeing admissions results for UPenn coming in slowly and all have been acceptances. I haven't received anything and my application status has not changed. Should I be expecting a rejection? :/ Or does UPenn send acceptances in batches? I just want to knowwww--I hate waiting.
  10. Hello all! I have a few GA interviews scheduled for next week and was wondering how to prepare for them. Is is solely resume based since it is job focused? Or are there other things I should be aware of? Thanks!
  11. I had responses back from the GA office today. Maybe give it one more day to see?
  12. Just got interview offers for 2 GA positions! Woooo! Let's hope I don't screw it up :D

  13. Is anybody attending Northwestern Preview Days for the Higher Education and Social Policy program? Or is there anyone who could tell me more about it?
  14. I was wondering if there is a "correct" way of creating cover letters/resumes for applying to these positions. Statements of Purpose, for example, usually require some mention of specific faculty and research. Is there some kind of similar requirement for GA apps?
  15. @emma4903--I would definitely be down to meet up. In fact, we could even get food at one of Nashville's many restaurants so you can have a chance to explore.
  16. I've been asked to visitation days as well for a Masters program but have decided not to attend 1) simply because of the fees and time commitment involved, and 2) because I have other programs that have accepted me and that I am more interested in.
  17. @Emma4903--I'll be going! I'm already an undergraduate student here lol, but it'll be nice to have a different perspective.
  18. @Danielewrites--Thanks for the links! I'm definitely going to read those. Also, @Loric--Your response made me laugh haha. That's a good point though.
  19. Hello all, This is a fairly general question but one I wanted to gauge people's opinions on. I'm currently considering two programs that have similar components but are ranked differently and one is in the North and the other in a mid-size city in the South. On the condition that all things are equal (funding, research interests), is it accurate to expect that the school who is ranked the highest for "overall graduate school of education" is better/worse than one that is ranked the highest for the specific program I am interested in? I'm just wondering what causes these programs to be differentiated in terms of rankings. I promise I'm not too caught up on rankings or what not, but it could be a way for me to choose between the two. Thank you!
  20. @Samstrong 123: I'm so sorry--I meant $150. Excuse the typo. But if you use a coupon from this sitehttp://www.retailmenot.com/view/kaptest.com, you can reduce the price from $199-$150.
  21. Hello! I'm going to Northwestern in March for preview days and was wondering if there are must visit places you would recommend within the area. Also, what are some places to live around the school that are cheaper, safe, and reasonable distance from the school. I'll probably bring a car (but I'm a bit worried about parking based on the responses here..). Thanks
  22. I really enjoyed using kaplan's quiz bank. You have to purchase the program (around $50 if you use the discount code) but there's a lot of questions and you can choose them based on type of question and skill level. For me, being comfortable taking a computer test was the hardest part and using Kaplan really helped with that.
  23. Accepted into Masters for Higher Ed. Admin also! I'm a current undergrad at Vanderbilt as well, so feel free to ask me any questions about Vanderbilt, Nashville. I'll try my best to answer well.
