  1. For the people who have heard back from Arizona State University, which program? I applied to their Ceramics program- deadline was January 15th and I still have not heard anything but I see others are. Their website still says my application is still under review though.
  2. Supaslim, Hang in there! Don't beat yourself up. I know exactly what you mean regarding access to equipment etc. it really sucks.
  3. Hey supaslim! I really like the carving on your pots and love the the texture that the rope adds to those pieces overall. Thanks for posting the link to your tumblr- I had never thought of using tumblr as an online portfolio until I have the time and money for a dotcom site. I uploaded a lot of my stuff this morning and still have more photos to post as well as medium descriptions but here is what it is so far. http://sarahwebbhaltom.tumblr.com/ Hope you all are having a good day!
  4. Supaslim- I love Carol Long's work! Kiki Smith Kara Walker Kristen Kieffer Rebekah Bogard Beth Cavener Stichter To name a few.
  5. First rejection- ceramics at Alfred. It wAs expected but I had to try. 1 down, 4 to go. I have faith that I will end up where I am supposed to be even if that means NOT in gradschool. Lol.
  6. On another note. I am still really glad to have finally heard from somewhere. Anywhere. It's kind of relaxed some of that tension of being in complete limbo. 1 down, 4 to go.
  7. @samilk! I got a rejection letter from Alfred today for the Ceramics program. I expected this with 140+ applicants but am still a little bummed! Having cocktails now!
  8. Supaslim and PPP, Good luck! Is your ceramic work functional or sculptural? When were your deadlines? For me Alfred and Arizona were Jan 15th and the other 3 schools were all February 1st. I know it hasn't been THAT long since I applied but I just have no patience with waiting--lol. I usually have a lot of patience-but I guess my whole life hanging in limbo right now is just unnerving. If I get in anywhere, my husband and I and our 3 year old son will be relocating. Big changes.
  9. Mine are in my signature too. Alfred, Arizona State, Ohio University, Tulane, University of Nevada, Reno
  10. Hey there Tara, I applied to Ohio University for ceramics, haven't heard anything yet. I missed the OSU deadline unfortunately by a mistake on my part, but I did see that someone reported that they were accepted on the results page. Good Luck!
  11. Samilk, How did they contact you? Letter, phone or email? My friend was wait listed but ended up getting in. Hang in there!
  12. I'm so glad people are hearing back. I have yet to hear from any schools which concerns me, but I am trying to be as patient as possible. I also don't think I have seen anyone in any of the forums that have applied to the same programs at the same school that I have. Two of my deadlines were January 15th- so I am hoping to hear from either ASU or Alfred soon. Planning on heading to the studio for the day, maybe if I get lost in work there, I will have a happy email waiting for me later.
  13. Samilk, can't wait to hear how your interview goes!
  14. I have not been contacted for an interview, but I heard the ceramics department was not going to start reviewing their MFA apps until the 12th. I did get to meet and speak with the division chair when I was there in January. I wonder about the interview process though. My friend that goes there, was never contacted for an interview and was accepted. Is your interview on Skype or just the phone? Best of luck to you!
  15. Hi there, Yes you are not alone! I am 38, my husband is 51 and our son is 3. I just applied to 5 MFA programs for fall. I know its not going to be easy.
  16. Hi Samilk, I unfortunately do not really know anything about the Sculpture program at Alfred, but I have applied there too, for Ceramics. I have a friend that is getting his MFA in the Electronic Integrated Arts program there and I have been able to visit twice. The first time was almost a year ago, when I travelled there to hear a lecture by Kiki Smith who was a visiting artist there at the time. My understanding is that yes, they are still very connected with the art world in spite of being in a small town. I also spent a week there with my friend in January and the town is small but I really liked it. I spent most of my life in a big city but have lived in small towns the past 16 years mostly so I can relate. If by a long shot, I get in, I am looking forward to spending 2 years there. NYC is 5 hours away with a bus that goes there i believe, and Cleveland is about 3 and a half away. I guess I feel like there are few distractions of the kind I do not need-but it definitely feels connected to the art world there. So did you have your interview on 11/2 (November) or is it on February 11th?
  17. Yes! I am checking the results search more times than any normal human being would I am sure. Where are have you applied? This is my first time posting-new to this site!
