  1. I agree. BC just gave me a better scholarship offer, so now I'll be going there.
  2. A girl I grew up with is a current student, and she absolutely loves it. It's great for clinical practice, because you have much more time in the field, starting from day one. I visited as well, and my general impression was that the classes are small, the professors are approachable, and it has a great reputation in the metro Boston area. I also received a hand written note from a recent grad, telling me why she loved her Simmons experience. Given that MSW programs are two years, I want to have the most experience possible before I start working. Also the location is perfect, close to so many other Boston universities.
  3. I've made my decision and I'm SO excited!! I'll be attending this fall full time, while also getting my School Social Work cert. Is anyone else on here attending in the fall? Or thinking about it?
  4. I got a 7500 award, it barely makes a dent in their tuition. If you break it down by credit hour, Penn is twice as expensive as schools in MA (like BU, BC, and Simmons). I don't think it's worth it, honestly. When it comes to social work, the name of the school and it reputation doesn't matter (as long as it's accredited). Also potential earnings with an MSW aren't super high, so I wouldn't waste your time and money going into a ton of debt from an Ivy. That's just my opinion though.
  5. Accepted this afternoon! I'm really interested in their program and I possibly meet some of you this fall!
  6. Hey everyone, I've just been accepted to UPenn for their full time Clinical MSW program. Does anyone know how generous they are with financial aid? I love the school and I'd LOVE to live in Philly, but I'm not sure if it's worth the hefty price tag. Also I'm waiting to receive my financial aid information, and I'm just anxious to see what that will be like. Does anyone know how generous Penn is compared to other MSW programs?
  7. Hey everyone, I've applied to several MSW programs, waiting to hear back from my top choices. Experienced grad students: what do you think is the most important factor when admission teams are making decisions? I have a 3.3 GPA from Emory, two years of full time AmeriCorps service, and lots of other relevant volunteer experience from my time in college. Fellow applicants, how quickly did you hear back from your schools? I'm getting so anxious just waiting around for a decision! Any and all input would be helpful, thank you so much!
  8. I applied to BC in late December, I'm dying to hear back!! What's with them only notifying by US Mail??
