  1. SOAS accepted / Boston rejected You win some, you lose some right?
  2. Already heard back from Boston, rejected! Boo! "In a particularly strong year of applicants, we are not able to offer admissions to many fine young scholars." Ah well. Just glad I got an acceptance first. Softened the blow a bit. Don't give up you guys!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Thanks all! I also just sent Boston an e-mail asking about my application, since someone posted they had done it and gotten a response! As for gifts, i'm thinking of sending all the people who helped me with my applications some kind of gifts. Maybe food? I'm overseas though so hmmm...lots of fun options! Good luck today everybody! Stay positive!
  4. Thank you so much for your insight! I just was accepted! I'm really excited, but now I'm just worried about funding... As an international student there isn't that much available! Do you have any insights about where to live? Thanks again I really appreciate it!
  5. Got into SOAS London for a taught Masters! Anthropology of Travel Tourism and Pilgrimage. No funding, but will apply to a couple of scholarships. They seem pretty competitive so we'll see... The decision time was super fast! It took only a little bit over a week to get the decision. Good luck to everyone!!!!! This is the first school I've heard from.
  6. Mastershoping, I know what you mean! I haven't heard back from any of my schools yet...
  7. Mastershoping, I'm also waiting on pins and needs for news about the UCLA masters! I think last year they e-mailed out around Feb. 20th? I hope it's sooner though...
  8. Hi there! Thanks so much! I did go ahead an e-mail the person in charge of the unit I'm interested in, haven't heard a reply back, but knowing you got in still without e-mailing makes me feel a bit relieved! How was your time at SOAS? Since I'm overseas I won't be able to visit. I'd love to hear more about it from you. Thanks and good luck to you as well!
  9. Hello! Thanks, yeah it's a taught MA. I wasn't sure how that worked vs. the US, especially for the SOP. I really want to get in...but even if I do I'm not so sure about the money part D:
  10. Hello! Just wondering, does anyone know much about SOAS taught anthro Masters? I`m about to apply for the Anthro MA of Travel, Tourism, and Pilgrimage. For the SOP I was wondering...do I say who I`d like to work with? It seems that there`s one professor in charge of the specific program....but I`m not sure who else is involved. Do I just not mention a POI? Also, is it appropriate to email a POI in this instance? Is it welcomed? Thanks! I really have no clue what I`m doing...
  11. Hey all, I was just wondering, how important is it to contact a POI for a master`s degree? I haven`t contacted anyone and I wasn`t sure if I should... Thanks!
