  1. I also applied to Loma Linda and have an interview for Feb 23rd as well. I am from North Carolina and doing my interview via Skype. Don't know much about the interview, have a friend in the program, but she just said they ask about you and why you are interested in the program. As for the writing portion, I heard something about writing about being a professional or what it means to be a Speech Language Pathologist, but that was from a previous year so I assume it will be different. If anyone else knows more about the process, let me know! Good luck to everyone. Also, I think because of credits tuition is not as bad, maybe 25,000 for first year (that's not including living of course) and less for the second because we aren't taking as many credits! On their website it tells you the total for the two years.
  2. You all have wonderful stats. My undergrad GPA is not fantastic, 3.46 for my cumulative, 3.9 for in major GPA and last 2 years. GRE: Q: 152, V: 151 AW: 4.5 (not that great either.) I work for Mountain Area Health Education Center as a Senior Admin Assistant (MAHEC is a education center for Doctors doing residencies in Western North Carolina) I also volunteered in multiple settings, but most recently at Park Ridge where I gained a lot of experience doing Modified Barium Swallow Studies and I had the opportunity to watch hours’ worth of Video fluoroscopy, help mix the barium for these modified barium swallow studies, watch and observe bedside swallow evaluations, learn swallow and feeding techniques, and also observe therapy techniques including VitalStim on facial and Laryngeal sites. I have watched multiple Laryngeal Stroboscopy’s of the vocal folds and learned much more about the anatomy of the swallow by being able to watch and learn through this observation. I've also volunteered in clinics for my undergrad (at Applachian) and have spent time at Pardee, Care Partners, Hospitals, Inpatient, Outpatient, babysitting a girl with Apraxia of Speech. I also have Public Speaking experience, and have helped with Research with a professor at APP - writing transcriptions via the SALT methods. I was on NSSLHA at App and the Treasurer for a year before I graduated. I am a NSSLHA and NCSLHA Member, and have volunteered at one of the ASHA Conferences. I've applied to 9 schools, and have already been offered an Interview for Loma Linda. Hoping not to go so far away, but excited for the opportunity. It is so competitive, but I can't wait to be in graduate school. My interests are Dysphagia and Swallowing Disorders - but I am unsure if I would love working with infants or adults more!! I also LOVE the brain!
