Thanks! Okay, I wonder if mine got lost somewhere along the way. That's interesting, maybe there is hope for us, even if it does take a while Last year, I was on two wait lists and didn't hear back until near the end of April that they were completely full and not taking any more. We'll see. Best of luck! Time tells all! -

I am hoping so too, that is very limited.. So you received an e-mail from them? I didn't yet, but my status online says i'm on the alternate list, so I did the background check and other things. Are you going to e-mail asking about your spot, etc. Good luck to you, I am sure you'll get an acceptance. Hopefully soon. Any idea how long individuals have to accept/deny from LLU? Wishing you lots of prayer and luck!!! -
Yeah, Appalachian sent theirs out the 15th last year, I assume it'll be around the same, they are on Spring Break right now.

Checked Loma Linda's website and my application status and summary, and saw that I was on the Alternate list - no e-mail yet. Is it appropriate to call or e-mail and ask where on the list I am? Should I wait. It allowed you to do some steps in the case that I was accepted, so I went in and did the background check. Hoping the status changes, but glad to be on a wait list!

I didn't get an e-mail, but the website says I am on the Alternate list as well - and prompts you to do some things to get ready, including submitting a background check. -

Oh wow, That's quite a few interviews for not many spots. Good luck to you. My interview was pretty straight forward too, they were really kind. Oh i'm so sorry Hopefully that wasn't the case, but I am sure a spot will open up!! Did you interview in person, or via Skype? Mine was Skype - they didn't say they were recording it, I didn't realize they were doing that. Just have to remember a lot of spots open up, so i'm sure you'll move from the wait list! Did you apply other places as well? -
Job possibilities with a degree in SLP

Definitely shadow in different areas, it will help you get a feel. Talk to lots of SLP's and see if they like what they do, or what setting they prefer, and WHY! -

I want to work with dysphagia/swallowing patients - unsure about whether i want to work with adults (with dementia, cva's, TBI, etc.) or with infants or neonatal. I am fascinated by the Brain (just bought a big brain poster for my room actually )!!! Traumatic brain injury is so interesting and fascinating as well, and i'd love to research it, along with strokes. Really any injury stemming from the brain. I love modified barium swallow studies, and scopes, etc. the swallow is neat, and I love to eat, so what better way than to help others enjoy that same luxury! -
Good luck to you too! Our time will come, good luck on that interview if you haven't had it yet!

I was wait-listed last year and didn't get into either of them, but they never told me how high I was on the list, after I asked. I think it's appropriate to ask, just call or e-mail and ask kindly and reiterate that you are excited for the opportunity to attend.

Congrats to all those hearing back. I've yet to hear ANYTHING from any of my 9 schools, besides an interview with LLU and I was supposed to have one today with ACU, but it had to be postponed until next week. Anxiously waiting to hear from schools - but oh well, thankful for the opportunity to apply and congrats to all the new 2014 SLP's hopefully i'll be there with you guys soon!

I am getting so anxious to hear back. UGH! The waiting is terrible. -
Ah okay, that makes sense then. Hmm, well I think you talked about how you were determined and hard working, and i'd just mention something about bringing that to the program, and you deserve a spot for that reason. Is it pretty competitive? I'm sure you'll be accepted either way! My field (speech pathology) is very competitive, and they always want to know what you can bring to the field - so I just think it's important to talk about your strong points, which you have!
-
Just a few grammatical changes, just my opinion though! Well written. Maybe focus a little bit on why you would be a good asset to their program, more than just what you will gain from the program.. What can you bring to the table? Looks great though! Good luck to you. This question laid the foundation for my decisions and ambitions in the past and will continue to do so in the future. the only weapons I was equipped with were vigorous determination and an audacious spirit Thus I feel that the right time has arrived for me to complete my Master’s degree in computers and information systems to fulfill the educational needs I do not currently do not possess. I mastered the language of the world - maybe just say mastered the English language. two vigorous fields of subject study

They don't have out of state tuition, because it's a private (Adventist University). Yes, it looks like lots of opportunities for housing that is cheaper than a lot of other areas in CA. I have a few friends moving out there for PT and they've found some decent housing for not bad. A lot more expensive than where I am from though! haha Yes, only a few weeks now!! -

SLP GRAD SCHOOL HOPES~DREAMS~GUESSES THREAD
lgwslp replied to twinguy7's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Hope: to be accepted to a program at all!!! Who doesn't hope this?! Dream: To get accepted to one of my top choices (LLU, WCU, UCF, LSU, ETSU) Guess: A little nervous to say, as I was rejected by all 6 schools I applied to last year, (two wait listed that turned to rejection) but I am hopeful to get a few acceptances at least, and have a choice. if I only get one, I will at least for sure know that's where I should go -

I agree, and it definitely depends on the program and I imagine their deadline as well. They probably spend some time over Spring Break going over it, since they aren't in classes during that time. And the timeline on the results search is typically similar for the schools, at least where I applied last year. Time will tell! -

I do think schools are slower this year. I had a professor tell me that ASHA has told the school graduate committees to not give notices until later, even almost April. (she didn't say why) so she told me I would most likely not start hearing back until March, and maybe even late March. It's frustrating to wait for sure, I feel the same. Finished my interview Sunday, and was just ready to hear after that. -

Oh neat, that's funny! Well hopefully it is helpful that we were near the end and they remember us I am sure you did great. I was REALLY nervous too, until they called in on Skype, and they seemed to be tired but in a good mood, so hopefully it went as well as I thought. I have a friend that just got accepted to PT school too, That makes me a little nervous they interviewed so many. Do you know how many spots they accept? I applied to a lot of other schools but would like to go. Anyways, good to you too!! Hopefully we will hear soon. -

I never received my email/letter to login and check my status either, and I have e-mailed them TWICE. it is rude and not professional at all, very disappointing. Let me know if anyone else hears anything -
Thank you!! I am hoping so. had an interview with Loma Linda yesterday, and it went really well as far as I could tell. Good luck to you as well

How did your interview go? Mine was pretty easy. They just asked basic questions - why did you apply here, how did you learn about this field and what made you choose it, about my volunteer experience, and a question they had e-mailed out - since I had a Skype interview. The essay wasn't bad either. They were really friendly. Made me excited to go there!! I wonder how many people they interviewed. Mine was at 5:10 pm and they said they'd been interviewing since like 8 that morning.
