  1. Hmm, because I would have to finish a 3 semester program in 2 semesters which is a lot of stress/very few people do.
  2. Hey everyone, I recently got into a PH program at Harvard for the summer and the: MPH - Biostats & Epi (CGU) MS Healthcare Research (Dartmouth) MS Global Health (Duke) Got waitlisted: MS Global Health (UCSF) I'm really confused on what to choose. My plan is to enter medical school in the 2016-2017 academic year and later join the Navy as a physician hoping to use my Masters in this way. The problem I'm facing is that Duke is a 3 semester program that I'll have to finish in one year (12 months) and that the other programs seem to get mixed reviews on quality on various forums. My goal is to become a Navy medical officer after med school and serve on humanitarian missions abroad. When my service is over I would ideally work with a non profit in focusing in on a community health (particularly mental health). These are all unranked for various reasons so how do you all go about choosing? Thank you!
  3. Hello d3v2015, Missouri State University said on its website "Admission to our Master's program is very competitive and decisions regarding acceptances will begin on March 1st,2015." So they already sent out their offers and made the wait list. With that being said, I don't think you should count yourself out just yet.
  4. We are so close in all of our academic school work, that probably explains why we are getting similar acceptances. Our math score for the GRE isn't great which is probably why we are not given first offers and I/O programs care A LOT about that portion. Yes, I will be attending University of Missouri, St. Louis's visit day. I will land there Thursday 11:00 p.m.
  5. Ph.D Programs: 1) Central Michigan University (Rejected by email on February 18th, 2015) 2) Wright State University 3) Virginia Tech 4) University of Houston (Rejected by calling and the Patti Tolar telling me to assume its a rejection by now) 5) University of Missouri, St. Louis (Made the short list, found out by email on February 13th,2015) 6) Florida Institute of Technology 7) Claremont Graduate University 8) Roosevelt University 9) Louisiana Tech University (Got an interview on March 14th, 2015) 10) Illinois Institute of Technology (Accepted to the masters of science in PHRD, found out March 2nd, 2015) Masters Programs: 1) San Francisco State University 2) Cal State San Bernardino 3) Missouri State University (Made the wait list, found out by email on March 1st, 2015) Someone asked me for my credentials and I thought it would be a good idea to share what I have to help others. Overall GPA:3.63 Psychology GPA: 3.85 GRE Scores: * Verbal: 154/170 (63% percentile). * Math: 148/170 (32% percentile). * Writing: 5.0/6.0 (93% percentile) 2 Rejections: (Central Michigan University, University of Houston) 1 Acceptances: (Illinois Institute of Technology) 2 Wait list: (University of Missouri, St. Louis, Missouri State University) 1 Interviews: (Louisiana Tech University) 7 Waiting: (Wright State University, Virginia Tech, Florida Institute of Technology, Claremont Graduate University, Roosevelt University, San Francisco State University, Cal State San Bernardino)
  6. Hello, So a new update for me. I got wait listed for Missouri State University for their masters program. Louis (Made the short list, found out by email on February 13th,2015) 6) Florida Institute of Technology 7) Claremont Graduate University 8) Roosevelt University 9) Louisiana Tech University (Got an interview on March 14th, 2015) 10) Illinois Institute of Technology Masters Programs: 1) San Francisco State University 2) Cal State San Bernardino 3) Missouri State University(Made the wait list, found out by email on March 1st, 2015) Nothing is secure for me so far but my anxiety level has gone down a lot. To those of you who have received full acceptances ... a big, huge CONGRATULATIONS!!
  7. I called Virginia Tech and they extended all their offers so far. They are working with their top picks (which is 10 students) to see if they will accept their offers then they will make the short list and then the waiting list. If you are on the short list for any school, that means you are at the top of the list and you have a high chance of getting an offer if the initial offer receivers decline. Once they finish the people on the short list, then they start picking people off the wait list. But for now, the professor has told me on the phone that they have not rejected anybody yet. We are heading into March, which is the prime month when most of the final decisions are going to be made; so just a little bit longer. One final thing to note, I have mentioned this already but just to reiterate ... students have been known to get chosen off the wait list as late as April since the last day to make a decision for any offer is April 15th, 2015. Hope this helps and I shall return with more news in the near future.
  8. Yes, patience is key and don't stress yourself out. At this point there is nothing that can be done but wait. People have been known to get accepted off the wait list as late as April! Plus you don't have any rejections yet ... no need to be anxious.
  9. Also, I am not sure if I am going to that visit day for the University of Missouri, St. Louis. Are you going for sure?
  10. SouthernBelle1018: Yes, I was also contacted by email for University of Missouri St. Louis, and thank you for your feed back. Also, does anyone know the difference between a wait list and a short list? Or is that the same thing just different terminology?
  11. Hey guys, So here are the schools I applied to and my results so far. Ph.D Programs: 1) Central Michigan University (Rejected by email February 18th, 2015) 2) Wright State University 3) Virginia Tech 4) University of Houston (I called and they told me if I haven't heard anything by now then that is a rejection, they already sent out all their offers) 5) University of Missouri - St. Louis (Made the short list) 6) Florida Institute of Technology 7) Claremont Graduate University 8) Roosevelt University 9) Louisiana Tech University (Got an interview on March 14th, 2015) 10) Illinois Institute of Technology Masters Programs: 1) San Francisco State University 2) Cal State San Bernardino 3) Missouri State University HAS ANYONE GONE TO THE INTERVIEW FOR LOUISIANA TECH UNIVERSITY? IF YOU HAVE CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME THE TYPES OF QUESTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN ASKED OR QUESTIONS IN GENERAL THAT ARE ASKED IN A GRADUATE SCHOOL INTERVIEW? PLEASE AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYBODY'S POSITIVE AND SUPPORTIVE ATTITUDES ON THIS FORUM!
  12. Hey guys, I know this has been done countless times before but can someone give me a feel of how they think my responses from schools will be? Major: Psychology B.A GPA: 3.633 Major Gpa: 3.86 GRE "math": 141 (11th percentile) GRE "verbal": 153 (58th percentile) Writing: 4 (54th percentile) Research experience: 1. Cognitive Development Psychology Research Lab - 2 years. 2. I/O Psychology Research Lab - 1 year. 3. Sleep/Cognition Psychology Research Lab - 1 year. Work Experience: 1. Dabbed in various jobs here and there, most prominent: Changed the dynamics of a real estate firm by consulting their broker - (who wrote me a strong letter of recommendation) I know my Math GRE is pretty low (my worst subject), and my Verbal is average but I did do well (A-) in a Statistical psychology course and I'd say I have pretty decent letters of recs. Should I be worried because of my GRE scores? Anything would help, thanks guys.
