Just wondering, does anyone know anything or have any evidence to support something like the idea that the time of the day bears anything like a correlative relationship with respect to number of notifications being sent? I'm just sort of curious, really. More likely in the morning/afternoon/evening? Just curious.

I really like Richard Swinburne. Many don't care for arguments from natural theology and the like, but I feel he probably does natural theology and philosophical theology better than anyone living. Also, given that I have certain interests in phil of science, it's nice to know there are theist philosophers out there who take science very seriously. I like William Hasker... though I think he gets it wrong on "emergent dualism"... and I like Jaegwon Kim because his "Causal Exclusion Argument" demonstrates why. Finally, I am deeply indebted to the work of William Alston. His (I would contend) utter destruction of the "internalist/externalist" paradigm in epistemology has shaped a lot of my personal research interests.

I'm beginning to think he might be a kind of Socrates for the internet age...

I just looked at the comment. Definitely bizarre...

My interests are fairly broad, but most specifically I'm interested in phil religion and phil science as competing epistemological models. I also have interests in reformed epistemology (e.g. Plantinga and Alston) and philosophical theology (e.g. Swinburne). But mostly I'm interested in topics where epistemological models in religion and science address the same questions and making a case for a kind of "mutual support" theory. What about yourself?

I feel your pain, I promise you. I can only speak for myself (so take it for what it's worth), but I've not heard anything from Notre Dame one way or the other as of yet. I wait anxiously...

This, I think, is a helpful reminder. The philosopher's God never made a perfect philosopher. I'm also glad that I found this site. It's helpful to know that I'm not alone in this bottomless pit of stress called graduate admissions.

Someone just posted a rejection from Kentucky. I don't know if anyone else out there applied to UK, but I did. Perhaps notices will start rolling out.

I wonder if he's in New Jersey and Hawaii at the same time...? Talk about transcendental metaphysics.
-
I'm all too aware that this could very well be the case. Please, however, do not rob me of my delusions. ; )
-
He does, however, say that he's from Hawaii... so it's almost certain that it's the same guy.

It is clear that I'm being sarcastic, is it not? I assure you that I am.

I can grant that medical reasons count as a good reason not to drink. I do not, however, understand how one could claim not to enjoy the taste and/or effects of intoxicants. I know that there ARE people who feel this way... I just don't understand it. Then again... I come from a long line of irish catholics...

I don't understand not drinking. Strikes me as illogical.
-
Why would anyone not drink?
-
I believe it was one Peter Griffin who said, "It is the right of men to drink not because we want to, but because we need to!" Certainly this seems to hold true anecdotally.

Admitted... shut out... Either way a bottle of Booker's is going to die.
-
I've yet to meet an occasion which is incompatible with drinking.

Well... if nothing else it seems that my application wasn't so repulsive that it was rejected right off. If that counts as anything, I'll count it as a good and pretend to myself that there's no such thing as confirmation bias.

So far Baylor has only sent out rejections... or at least, the only results posted thus far have been rejections.
-
Thanks for that. I feel like I know so very little about what's going on. It feels as though there's a thick veil of secrecy behind which these committees tinker with our destinies. I feel like a chess novice trying to read the moves of a master... though I'm sure its not nearly so bad as it seems to me.

I was wondering whether someone might be able to shed some light on this for me. One of the many schools to which I've applied is Baylor, and I don't know, strictly speaking, whether or not i should read anything at all into the fact that they've sent out a number of rejection notices at this point, and so far I've yet to hear anything. I guess I was wondering whether or not anyone might know something that I don't about the structure of admissions so as to suggest that this should be taken as a positive sign, or conversely that it is completely meaningless. I come from an undergrad institution with no grad students, so I know very little about this sort of thing. I appreciate anyone that who might be willing to indulge me on this. Thanks.

Has anyone heard anything about Notre Dame? I really expected that there might have been some notifications coming out by now.
