How/when did they contact you?

That's nice of you to say. It's more of a bummer because I really thought the work I submitted was quite good. But it's still too early to be out.

Im not feeling so great about my prospects after Berkeley's rejection yesterday. I haven't heard back from a lot of programs yet, but I'm not taking it as a good sign... Too early to be pessimistic?

Does anyone have any information on the funding situation for UC San Diego? Their website of course lists how much the in state and out of state tuition is, but then I have also seen floating around on here something that says "UCSD- full funding+assistantship" Thoughts?...

Yep, also got the rejection letter. Kinda hurts, but they only accept 7 people in the whole department, so its understandable...

Hmmmm I was short listed for Ohio state but didn't receive that email... But now that I think about it, it may be because I just submitted my FAFSA...

I was really torn to not be able to go. I talked with the admissions coordinator about not attending the visit day, since I live in Los Angeles, and he seemed to think that it was perfectly acceptable to not attend and that it had no bearing on the admissions decision. I hope this is the case. But now I'm a little nervous since two is not a big number... thoughts?

I too am waiting for Ohio State U sculpture. I was short listed so hoping for good news. I'm also waiting for ucla sculpture, I applied last year so we shall see. Still waiting to hear something from VCU Sculpture. I know from last year they contact people for interviews throughout a month period. Last year someone was contacted for an interview well into March and got in. It's not worth worrying too much about this stuff I guess

Hi David, With all do respect, could I ask why you are on this forum (and was last year) when you were accepted to UCLA a while ago. Are you working in admissions at UCLA, or just like to help and give guidance to applicants?

I had an interview with Berkeley as well. Did they tell you you are on a shortlist at the time of the interview, or after the interview? Trying to figure out my place. Thanks

I think it was a Skype interview, and yes, they notify you that you've been selected as a finalist before they conduct the interview. Also if it helps, being CM, they ask some pretty standard but tough questions about your conceptual underpinnings, place in art history, etc.

Last year my partner interviewed for Carnegie Mellon. So yes, the do conduct interviews. I think they interview about 20-15 people.

Yeah it was kinda horrifying. I was at work, so I asked him if he could call back in 45 mins, so I could prepare myself. He did and it was fine. But yes, he basically called me at 9:15am and was like "Hey, lets do this!" He just asked why UC Berkeley, what are you working on now, do you have any questions for me, etc. The conversation was geared more towards getting to know me and my interests rather than discussing the portfolio or philosophical underpinnings of my practice. Because it was only 15 mins, its hard to figure out how well it went...

Just got a call and had a 15 min interview with UC Berkeley. Went well I think... It's really jarring to just get a call out of the blue and have an interview.

Just talked to VCU about this because my application says the same thing. If you submitted your transcript by just scanning and uploading it and didn't mail it in, it is technically incomplete. They just recently started allowing unofficial transcripts during the review processes. If accepted, you will have to submit the official one. But your application will still be processed and reviewed, the system just thinks its incomplete.

Just saw that someone got an email yesterday from UC Berkeley for a phone interview today...

for sculpture, around 10-12, they interview about 40.

I constantly have views from Brazil and there is no way it is a real person. It's a computer or something...
