    I feel you! I went through almost the entire month of February without hearing a peep. I totally felt like I was just going to continue to get rejections and was beginning to plan for next year, since this is my first time doing these applications. It's easier said than done, but you should do whatever you can to keep your head up or to get your mind off of it. I remember looking at your website a while back and your work is really fucking excellent and more schools will eventually recognize that.

    That's nice of you to say. It's more of a bummer because I really thought the work I submitted was quite good. But it's still too early to be out.

    Today was the shortlist visit with Ohio State University, and it went really well. If you were invited and couldn't make it, the general consensus with all of us prospective grads is that the program is very warm and welcoming, the faculty and students are motivated and inspiring, and the resources at OSU are incredible.

    From what I understand, they are accepting 2 people into the sculpture program. Expect to hear a decision in 2ish weeks.

    I was really torn to not be able to go. I talked with the admissions coordinator about not attending the visit day, since I live in Los Angeles, and he seemed to think that it was perfectly acceptable to not attend and that it had no bearing on the admissions decision. I hope this is the case. But now I'm a little nervous since two is not a big number... thoughts?

    Has anyone... Gotten an acceptance email from Ohio State sculpture department

    OR

    contacted by the UCLA sculpture department

    OR

    contacted by the Columbia sculpture program??

    Still waiting for VCU too and keeping my hopes up despite that others have gotten interviews already... A lot of people assume rejection if others say they've heard before them for interviews, but I think that might be a little bit of an extreme reaction.... I heard from Berkeley before some people and I heard from SAIC after a bunch for people for their sculpture department... It seems as if interview requests don't go out all at the same time for whatever reason! Chins up peeps! :)

    I too am waiting for Ohio State U sculpture. I was short listed so hoping for good news.

    I'm also waiting for ucla sculpture, I applied last year so we shall see.

    Still waiting to hear something from VCU Sculpture. I know from last year they contact people for interviews throughout a month period. Last year someone was contacted for an interview well into March and got in. It's not worth worrying too much about this stuff I guess

    Just found out I'm second on the waitlist at UGA. Is it likely that a spot will open up? 

    This is my first time applying. It is my understanding that in order for me to get accepted, someone currently 

    accepted has to decline, then the 1st person on the wait list is offered.......and if they decline, I would get in....

    This seems very unlikely. I have little experience or knowledge in these matters. Is there a chance? 

    It seems like such a long shot.

    Hi David, 

    With all do respect, could I ask why you are on this forum (and was last year) when you were accepted to UCLA a while ago.

    Are you working in admissions at UCLA, or just like to help and give guidance to applicants?

    Hey I had a interview with Berkeley and I'm on their shortlist. I think Berkeley has already contacted potential candidates... Good luck with VCU though! I'm jealous about that! Still waiting for contact from their sculpture department !

    I had an interview with Berkeley as well. Did they tell you you are on a shortlist at the time of the interview, or after the interview? Trying to figure out my place.

    Oh, great, thanks!! Also, do you happen to know if it's a phone interview, and if they notify you that you've been selected as a finalist before they conduct the interview?

    I think it was a Skype interview, and yes, they notify you that you've been selected as a finalist before they conduct the interview. 

    Also if it helps, being CM, they ask some pretty standard but tough questions about your conceptual underpinnings, place in art history, etc.

    Hi! Sorry this is unrelated to SAIC, but I see in your signature that you applied to Carnegie Mellon.. Do you know if it hold interviews?

    I applied for Drawing/Painting and just assumed an interview is part of the review process, because I didn't see it mentioned on its website.

    Last year my partner interviewed for Carnegie Mellon. So yes, the do conduct interviews. I think they interview about 20-15 people.

    Congrats!! That sounds horrifying..what did they ask?

     

     

    did they tell you that you would have an interview or did they just call you and say "P.S: interview starts NOW!"

    Yeah it was kinda horrifying. I was at work, so I asked him if he could call back in 45 mins, so I could prepare myself. He did and it was fine. But yes, he basically called me at 9:15am and was like "Hey, lets do this!"

     

    He just asked why UC Berkeley, what are you working on now, do you have any questions for me, etc. 

    The conversation was geared more towards getting to know me and my interests rather than discussing the portfolio or philosophical underpinnings of my practice. 

    Because it was only 15 mins, its hard to figure out how well it went...

    Hey,

    Does anyone who applied to VCU see a notice in their application that the application is incomplete? I distinctly remember uploading the file that they say is missing and i dont understand how I would have been able to submit the application without it being complete (even though they send you the link to submit your images after you submit the application)

    Just talked to VCU about this because my application says the same thing. If you submitted your transcript by just scanning and uploading it and didn't mail it in, it is technically incomplete. They just recently started allowing unofficial transcripts during the review processes. If accepted, you will have to submit the official one. But your application will still be processed and reviewed, the system just thinks its incomplete.

    I keep checking my google analytics, and I think something is wrong with it, because I keep having one visitor from Russia.

    Any advice on how to figure out if there is something wrong, or if I really just have this one person from Russia lurking my site?

     

    I constantly have views from Brazil and there is no way it is a real person. It's a computer or something...
