Application Anxiety Thread

Jenbugg, I did not go to their information day. If you did, could you tell me about your experience there? I think that city would be a great fit for me and I am still hopeful. I sent my mom a text today telling her I was stressed and she replied "Won't help anything." Haha It's hard to hear but I need to take her advice. Twinguy, I had no idea that they were making a sequel! That's even more exciting than the Veronica Mars movie(huge fan). -

TSU is also one of my top choices. Hearing this news reminds me of this scene from dumb and dumber http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KX5jNnDMfxA -
Thank you so much for the information TerapistaRae, I greatly appreciate it. I may be emailing you in the near future! I also just read on the Anxiety thread that Texas State had over 500 applicants this year and they have just started reviewing applications. I was feeling somewhat optimistic about TSU but now I'm worried. That being said, it's out of my hands now. This process is such a roller coaster ride.

Crazy Grad School Dreams/Nightmares
pitt123 replied to AudCSL's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Last night I had a dream that I was accepted into a program and living in a tiny dorm room again. I have a small dog but dogs were not allowed in the dorms and anyone caught with a dog would be kicked out. I needed to sneak my 8lb dog into my room for a few minutes while I packed a bag to take him to my family. I passed faculty in the halls but no one seemed to notice that I was carrying him. So, I put him down for a second to open my dorm room. When I placed him down on the floor he turned into my sister's 180lb mastiff! -
GPA: 3.5 (double major) CSD: 3.9 last 60 credits: 3.8 but I really struggled with the GRE I was able to get great research experience and was involved in three studies. Including one at Walter Reed which required me to analyze laryngeal aero dynamics. I currently work as an Assistant Speech Therapist in PA. I'm hoping the latter compensates for the rough GRE (fingers crossed).

Thanks SweetPea and good luck to you as well! I hope I'll be moving to Texas in the next couple months.

Now I'm worried because I haven't heard anything either.

What's funny is my 62/yo Dad loves the show too. We'll probably text about it later. My situation is like yours and I don't think I'll be hearing back from schools until mid-late March. I applied to a lot of schools so, I'm afraid I'll be inundated with rejections. -

Is anyone indulging in scandal tonight? There's nothing like a good series to take my mind of off all the stress. -
College of Saint Rose, Marquette University, Valdosta State University, & University of Northern Iowa are a few programs that offer spring admissions. Sorry, I do not know how they handle out of field applicants.

burnsl, I graduated from pitt a couple years ago. I love the CSD department there. Good luck ! -
Sorry to hear that lorenzojojo. Have you considered applying to schools that have spring admissions? That is going to be my back up plan.
-
TerapistaRae, Congratulations on the acceptance and on the funding, you must be excited! I'll keep you posted as well. Are you very familiar with the programs/locations that you applied to? I don't know much about the area but I've heard great things about Austin and Houston.

In Texas I applied to Texas State, Our Lady of the Lake, University of Houston, Baylor, and TCU. I got my undergrad from the University of Pittsburgh and also applied there as well as applying to a ridiculous number of schools all over the country. I am so worried about getting accepted. My mom is a SLP, the competitiveness of programs has changed so much over the years.

From what I've read, it can take a long time to hear back from Texas State. I think they may start notifying applicants in March but it can take as long as the middle of May to hear a response. I guess it just depends on which pool you are in. I hope we are both in the earlier pools. May seems so far away. -
Tennessee State University Applicants??

I haven't been able to find any information on when they will notify applicants. Has anyone heard anything about that? -

Sammehh, crocheting sounds fun, I've never tried it. This is the perfect time to learn something new! There are too many hills in this city to run lol. Thanks autismadvocate! I know what I'll be doing the rest of the night now. I think Texas State is one of the latest schools to notify applicants, so I know I'll be waiting for awhile. -
daisynic, I'm in the same boat... I just read that someone got into Texas Christian but I haven't heard anything. I hope you hear back soon! If things don't work out this time around, I will definitely apply to UT Dallas, I think that they also accept students in the spring.

I need to find a project to do to keep my mind off of all the worrying. I've been browsing pintrest to find DIY projects. I'm thinking about refinishing my bedroom furniture, unfortunately it's too cold outside to start that. Anyone have any suggestions? -
I wish I would have applied to UT Austin! I'm convinced I belong in Texas yet I've never been.

This hurry up and wait game is really starting to get to me. I am hoping to move across the country for school and I can't start planning the move yet. I haven't heard much about time-frame of decisions for the schools that I have applied to and I was just wondering if there were other people who have applied to Texas Schools? I'm waiting to here back from Texas State, Our Lady of the Lake, University of Houston, Baylor, and TCU.
