  1. If you have the opportunity to not take out loans for grad school, goog for you! But you guys really need to stop emphasizing the "I wouldn't take out loans for grad school bla bla" Some people have NO other choice at all than to take the loans. Because, the option of not going to grad school is probably worse. SO, it's not like anybody would take loans just for the fun of it. After all, we would all like to be able to say "I have no student loans", but newsflash; not all of us can say that! I just thought to say this out there as many people are always very obnoxious when talking to people that have opted to take loans for grad school. I assume we are adults and know the responsibility we are getting ourselves into. Instead, advice people to take loans responsibly but talking about how you would never take loans for grad school is just a waste of your time. People who need to would definitely do.
  2. I'd like to start this thread again. Not for housing but to find out what Villanova generally is like especially the Political Science program. I tried searching their website to see if I could get contacts of either current student or alumni but I didn't see anything like that. Would like to find out what the program is like; the faculty and staff and things like that from a more practical level.
  3. I did email some schools too. Some replied with the time frame. Then the last one replied days after to offer a conditional acceptance!
  4. It's for a Masters program. And yes, according to the graduate director, I would automatically switch to being a matriculated student immediately, as long as I get a 3.0 gpa the first semester. It's a good offer. I'm just wondering what the implications are, generally. Also, I don't know if my FAFSA will matter since their financial aid website says financial aid isn't available to non-matriculated students and certificate program students. Although, as soon as the DGS sent me the unofficial email of conditional acceptance, I asked if this would affect my funding. He said he wasn't sure about the implications regarding assistanships because they tend to be awarded based on academic criteria and tend to be rather competitive. So he's sure how competitive I would be given my dossier.
  5. I don't really get this. So the DGS emails me and says they have decided to admit me as a non matriculated student. That it allows me to take three courses and then enroll as a regular fully matriculated student if my gpa is 3.0 or higher. He said my letters were fine, my gpa solid but this was because of my GRE scores. I really don't know what to make of this.
  6. I just want to know if emailing a grad program will affect my chances anyhow because I am REALLY at that stage of emailing schools to ask especially if they are rolling admissions? This is March, can't believe I have no idea at all where I am going in the fall.
  7. By the way, you got into very exceptional programs. Do you mind sharing what you think gave you the edge?
  8. Yeah thanks! Coincidentally, those are the programs I applied to. I'm currently waiting for their decision.Do you have any idea what their acceptance rates are like?
  9. Thank you for your replies. Well, right now on my application, it says 'GRE received (not official)' after I mailed it myself to the woman. I wonder what happened with my scores cos I am certain ETS sent them. Anyway, she said it would not affect my chances so now I have to patiently wait for their decision.
  10. I called them in the morning and was told they didn't have my scores, she did say she would look it up though and that I should call her back in the afternoon which I did. She said she didn't see my scores still and that I should email it to her or fax it. This was just weird cos I don't even have a printed copy of my scores, anyway I downloaded it from my GRE account and sent it to her. I called ETS and they confirmed they did send it and even told me the day and the batch number that it was. This is all so confusing, I just hope it doesn't affect my chance. I certainly can't deal with any more rejections. God should help me!
  11. I submitted my application quite a while ago, so I expected it to have been updated. I'm really so bummed, would have to call them. I just went back to ETS to double check and yeah, it was Upenn I sent it to, I just confirmed the codes again. I wish I had noticed this much earlier!
  12. Out of curiosity and because of my nervousness, I decided to go to Upenn's website to check if a decision has been posted only for me to see that they never got my official GRE scores because it wrote (not received). Meanwhile I filled in Upenn as one of the schools ETS should send my score to. Currently on my ETS account, it's showing Upenn as one of the recipients of my scores. I'm just so confused here because the deadline at Upenn has since passed. Could this be some sort of mistake or what. I'm so sad, would it affect my chances of an acceptance? Help please!!!!
  13. What does it even mean and does that increase my chances of an acceptance? I applied for the Masters program. I just submitted my application yesterday. Imagine my surprise when I got the mail about scheduling an appointment with an enrollment coach today? Any takes?
  14. Okay, thanks a lot. San Diego is a bit too far but I will look at University of South Carolina
  15. Thanks for your replies. I'm interested in MA in Political Science as a preparation towards a PhD
  16. I already received two rejections from the PhD programs I applied to, one of which was a fall back option for me and they even rejected me. WHo knows and can suggest programs (preferably on the east coast) still accepting applications for masters!! I need to start applying to them. Thank you!!!
