Looks like a pretty calm day on the application front. There are so many schools which have not given answers yet... By the way, I saw a Cornell admission yesterday, does anyone know anything about Cornell?

As expected I got the rejection from Berkeley (email telling me to check the website)

It is such a relief because I thought the only news I would be receiving today was a rejection from Berkeley, which should be coming any moment now (a guy posted in the results that he phoned and they told him they would email all the decisions today). It's so funny that a few of us might actually end up in the same program next year given the relatively small size thereof

I got the email as well and I am an international living 6 thousand miles away. I think it is just spam so I would not read to much into this, be it only so that nothing but a good surprise can come of this. Otherwise, as you said, you are facing a rollercoaster of emotions. Lol, sounds like you were interviewed and became worried all of a suuden with this comment (by the way, I was interviewed. 6 of us were, I know that because they uploaded a spreadsheet for us to sign up so I could see all the names. Still no news...)

Monday last week one of my top choices said they would let me know "in the coming two weeks". Well, technically that would mean I should hear today... Other than that complete and utter silent

Congratulations! How I wish I was on "the other side" (ie the accepted side) with you all. Northwestern said they would come back at us in the coming two weeks monday last week so theoretically that would be what is left of today or tomorrow. I'm going insane. Anyway congratulations and you might want to contact them about the aid. Maybe they did not say anything because all their students get it, that is the case in some programs.

Especially given that they send a CD every 5 days or so to each school with the data of tens or hundreds of applicants each time. It is a total scam. I took the TOEFL on October 2007, unfortunately for me they keep the scores 2 years exactly, so when I tried to have them sent in November it was too late, the scores were no longer in their database. I had to retake the test...

Yes, a change is as good as a rest. Also, there was a topic somewhere here about how it was frowned upon to do your graduate studies where you did your undergrad, so it is probably for the best.

I wish I had applied to more schools, but that is really just the anxiety kicking in right now. I have applied to 11 programs which is a good enough number but mostly all programs that I would be thrilled to attend. I am just worried I won't get in, other than that I am pretty setisfied with my selection. I hope I won't be too disapointed...

Yes, you need not worry too much about it. According to darlinguogo, they just want us to stop whining about our status . So no news today either, except from Gatech whom I had contacted to check on my app a long time ago and who said they were waiting my transcripts (sent in early December, so probably lost somewhere) and two of my recommendations although my recommenders confirmed to me sending their letters which is also confirmed by Gatech's own "Letters of Reference Status Page". Not very professional I think. I just hate those applications' glitches.

They wouldn't bother if they had no interest in your application. And to your previous post about hearing anything (I assume you were refering to Northwestern), I have not, so this should be THE week.

Argh, it looks much better on my Excel, but I couldn't manage to write them as a table. Of course this is not very scientific but there are some conclusions to be drawn. In particular as to what are the favorite schools: Gatech, Northwestern, Columbia, Princeton, Berkeley, Cornell, UMich, MIT, Penn State, NYU Stern, Purdue, TAMU are the top 12 in number of entries.

One more week of waiting has come and gone and we are closing in on answer time. I have been obsessing about knowing when the results were going to finally arrive so I have done some research in the results page. I have looked for all OR / IE / Operations Management... programs by searching for (industrial|operation*). Then I have excluded all Masters results to keep only PhD. Excluded results that were "Other" or "Interview" Cleaned the raw data (eg transform gatech into Georgia Tech) I have also merged programs within a school (for instance Operations Management and Operations Research at CMU) Deleted the years in the dates, to have only day and month ... Then I have built a dynamic table with, as outputs, the number of entries for each school, the "average" date of result and the earliest day on which someone has heard back. All this in order to evaluate when we should be hearing from the schools we have applied to.
