nightwolf - thank you for the information! Definitely helpful especially for those of us who are moving from out of state!

Hey Nereida, I am also coming from CA! Where in CA are you from? I'm from the Bay Area. To all, I was also accepted to BU's program with a 50% Urban Practice Scholarship, but I'm torn between BU and Simmons right now. Simmons also offered me a 50% scholarship and both programs cost pretty much the same. Any word of advice about the two programs?? Quite honestly, I'm at a loss about what I should look for in each program to help me make my decision. I am planning to focus on clinical work, specifically with trauma-exposed populations, and both programs offer either a specialization or certificate in trauma.

Hey, does anyone have any knowledge about the trauma-focus programs offered by BU and Simmons? E.g. which program offers better training in trauma, what is the difference between a "certificate" (BU) versus a "specialization" (Simmons), do either the certificate or specialization appear on your diploma? BU offers a Trauma Certificate Program (TCP) but it is limited to 10 students per year. Students are paired with a BU graduate of the TCP and a faculty mentor. Simmons College offers a Trauma and Interpersonal Violence Specialization, and you basically just take electives to receive this. On a slightly different note - do anyone else plan to attend Simmons College's MSW Info Session this Thursday at 6pm? I will be attending so let me know if you are too! Or if any of you have any questions that you'd like me to ask for you, feel free to post here or PM me!

sweetpiepear, thanks! I will! Have you decided between BC and BU yet?

Do you know how much your friend received in the end?

Hey Elizabeth, if you are referring to USC acceptances, I am an in-state applicant. Good luck!
-
Hahhaha if I end up at BU, we (you & guyinshorts) can all have an In n Out party!! I just heard back from USC today, but do not have scholarship info yet. I'm torn because I really wanna do trauma and Veteran research and USC is a great program for that. However, theyre also very unlikely to provide scholarships to incoming students so I can't really justify paying $90k for USC but around $40 for BU...ughhh I hate needing to make these decisions!!!
-
That is great news!! Congrats!!!
-
You're awesome! I hope you hear back with good news soon!!

Hey esimanon, thank you so much for the info! Unfortunately I don't have a lot of dough, so without a scholarship from USC, it's highly unlikely that I will be able to attend. Especially since BU offered me a very generous scholarship, it's very difficult to justify going to USC.Simmons mailed out decisions on Monday but with the weather and my being in CA, I haven't received anything yet. Any idea about scholarships for Simmons??

Hey, I asked admissions department about getting an extension and they said they are unable to provide one. You're stuck with the two week deadline to respond.
-
I will!
-
Hey JMM, it seems like BC offers specialized training in your area of interest, which IMO, is worth the additional $10k. Just my two cents though. I'm already prepared to take out loans and I want to make sure that I will be adequately trained in the area that I am interested in. I am interested in trauma and both programs offer certificates for that. BU's trauma certificate program seems to offer more guidance though - they pair you up with a grad student and faculty member to help with professional development, which I think is pretty awesome. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give BC a call next week or so.
-
I was just accepted into BU's program yesterday with a scholarship, and have to respond within two weeks - no extensions allowed. I hope USC gets back to us before then...do you happen to know if USC offers any scholarships?? Hope you hear back with good news soon!
-
Hey JMM, just received an email from admissions. No extensions are allowed because it "would be unfair to the students who are on the waitlist." I may have to pay the deposit to hold on my spot...
-
I've already sent them an email. I'll let you know when I hear back!
-
I'm still waiting on BC and Simmon's college. Simmon's sent our decision letters yesterday so I should be receiving it in the mail later this week. I hope BC gets back to me soon bc I have to respond to BU's admission by March 4th. Any idea about the possibility of an extension? My letter says I'll lose my scholarship if I don't respond by then.
-
Congrats JMM1020!!! And to you as well pmelwani!

Hi all, I just got a call from the Associate Dean of Social Work at Boston University to let me know that I am admitted into their program!! This is the first program I've heard back from so I'm really excited! I submitted my app on 1/13 and it was deemed complete on 1/21. I hope all of you hear back with good news soon!!
-
Has anyone else applied to USC for the priority deadline but have yet to hear back? Like me?? I don't know if that basically means I'm rejected at this point...
-
CONGRATS!!!
-
I also applied on 11/14 and haven't heard back yet. My status says "Submitted" and that's it. I wonder if they send out batches of acceptance letters, or if they sent it all at once and depending on where you live, may receive the letter a bit later than others. Either way, I'm really hoping we hear back next week. This waiting is killing me especially since so many others have heard back already!!

Boston University MSW - weird decision letter

I also applied to BU for the early admission deadline, but haven't heard from them yet. Has anyone received an acceptance from BU?? I know they said we would hear back before or on March 3, but waiting is killing me!! -
Thanks! I submitted it on that day as well...hopefully I'll hear back soon!
