I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that here is where some trans studies stuff would be invaluable if you're reading about Anzaldua's hybridity and someone else suggested Puar...try Susan Stryker's piece "My Words to Victor Frankenstein From Above the Village of Chamounix: Performing Transgender Rage" and maybe some other stuff too ^but that could just be me always pushing trans studies work

The acceptance at UCB makes me kinda happy I didn't apply! I'd be super nervous. But I did apply to UC-Riverside for Ethnic Studies. I was super duper impressed with the faculty and I feel like there I could somehow weave in my interests in performance/art studies with research on statecraft, state violence and the prison-industrial complex. But that's assuming I get in...which we all know what they say about assuming...

Hi! I'm kind of late to the game, but I applied to NYU's PhD in Amst. I'm kind of with everyone else who hasn't heard anything and I'm fearing the worst. I've already gotten one rejection (Rutgers WGS PhD), but I was hoping NYU might work out better for me since they make you do their MA coursework even if you've already got a graduate degree of some kind (I applied pending my graduation in May from undergrad). I'm really nervous, but oh well. Did anyone in this thread also apply to Brown's Modern Culture & Media or did people stick to their Amst PhD? Throwing it out there! Congrats to everybody so far! Super stoked for you (if a bit jealous ).
